Katie's greatest contribution has always been defending. Having a 6'2" agile defender on the perimeter was a treasure for coach Rueck. Beavs will miss her defense. Kat's defense had improved dramatically, and had Kat remained healthy last year, I believe our team's defense would have been considerably better. Hopefully, between Kat and Jaz Simmons, our perimeter defense will be outstanding again.

As mentioned by beavershoopsfan, and now it is official, the Beavs are no longer in the hunt for Caitlin Clark, whose top-3 is Iowa, Iowa State, and Notre Dame. Really wanted her, but honestly really happy she isn't considering UO.

Many people on this board doubted Iowa, and Iowa St, but they are both good basketball programs, and look to have some nice players coming in over the next couple years. Catlin may end up at Notre Dame, but it would be a mistake to count out the home schools.
Too bad for the Beavs though, as I think Catlin would have been a real nice player in this system.

Caitlin would be PG number 3 in the same class at Iowa State! But, whatever.

Looks like she just may have wanted to stay closer to home, but she still has three really solid options. Obviously BHF knew earlier, so she hadn’t just narrowed it down, but I’m sure that staff has been all in for Van Lith. That BHF knows we remain in contention for her is great

I am guessing Clark ends up at ND, where she can stay closer to home and contend for a national championship.

One analyst named Goforth the best two-way player he saw all summer: www.prepgirlshoops.com/2019/08/best-of-summer-as-told-by-mason-asher-nars-martinez/"Nars: There were so many good players out there that could get it done on both sides of the ball, but I would have to go with Sasha Goforth. I have watched her play since her 8th grade year, but she really put it all together this season. Her offensive skill set was as good as anyone’s that I saw with her ball handling, fluid athleticism and tough shot making ability. On the defensive end she really seemed to hone in and take the challenge of defending the opposing team’s best perimeter player for extended stretches. The Oregon State commit is 6’1, but her reach just looks so much longer and that really bothered opponents, making it difficult to get clean looks. In a game versus Colorado Basketball Club, Goforth’s Arkansas Banshees were undermanned and she was literally puking in between timeouts, but she still stepped out onto the floor and competed every possession. With all of that being said, she was the best offensive AND defensive threat I saw on the circuit this summer." I love how every report talks about how Sasha plays longer than her already long 6'1" frame and how well she uses her length. Can't wait for her to get here.

Thanks for posting beaverwbb. There is no doubt in my mind Sasha is someone that works hard both offensively and defensively. The Beavs got a special player, and one I expect will help bring others to Corvallis.

I'm told in the qualifying round of the 3 point shooting contest at the Stephen Curry camp, she beat everyone -- boys and girls hitting 20 out of 25. Her and Azzi Fudd along with two boys made it to the next round tonight. Don't know if that has happened yet though.

She beat the girls and ended up tying the best boy's numbers. Bodes well for the Beavers.
