Season Preview: Oregon State Women's BasketballSeason Preview: Oregon State Women's Basketball Brenden Slaughter • BeaversEdge.com After an impressive 2017-18 season that culminated with an Elite Eight appearance, the preseason No. 8 Oregon State women's basketball team figures to be right back in the mix for a Pac-12 championship and another deep postseason run under ninth year head coach Scott Rueck.

Interesting preview. I agree with much that is written but think that JT will have to be able to give us minutes at the 5. We need to have the physical presence under the basket this year. Our freshmen posts are going to need a year or maybe two to develop the physical strength to compete at this level.
I'm also not sure about their star rating, I could be wrong but I thought TC was a 5* and PM a 4*. Calling JS a 3* is most likely also underrated.

Taya was a 5-star on HoopGurlz and a 4-star on Prospect Nation. (PN doesn't give out as nearly many 5-stars as HoopGurlz/ESPN.) Trish was the other way around - 4-star on Prospect Nation, 3-star on ESPN. Simmons was 4.5-stars on PN, 3-stars on Hoopgurlz/ESPN.
HoopGurlz seems to have really cut the travel budget in the last two years, and I think Trish and Jaz just got "courtesy stars" - Olsen never had a chance to see them personally, but didn't want to leave them out of the rankings.

Oddly despite only a 3* rating, osubeavers.com and oregonlive.com both claim Simmons is (was) ESPN's 7th overall ranked international recruit and No. 1 ranked shooting guard in the class, but I cannot find an ESPN source for this information. However, ProspectsNation DOES make this claim, so I wonder if osubeavers.com and oregonlive.com quoted the wrong source and actually are (were) referring to PN.

here is the apparent mistake by osubeavers.com (at start of 3rd paragraph):

OPPPPS...I see bennyskid beat me to the punch, before I completed my comments.

All the more reason to not put much emphasis on pre college rankings. Besides that, Rueck and company have proven the ability to coach players up well beyond those rankings. The ability for the players to be coached and learn seems to be very important, maybe even more important than their ranking.
Thanks to bennyskid and newduke2 for the clarification on the ranking.
