Well, you might not go to Vancouver if you are redshirting - note DS didn't travel with the team last year either.
You might be redshirting because you are waiting to hear back from the NCAA (think Roberto Nelson). Being at a sketch high school for 3 years that was better known for its starring role in an expose on recruiting practices resembling human trafficking would open the possibility to academics not being quite in order. I think it basically took Roberto a season to get things squared away with the NCAA. and I think he just took an online course that the NCAA took exception to after the fact.
There was the young lady from Nigeria? at the same high school as AA that signed with Vandy the year prior and was unable to play - and I would assume Vandy would have the resources to deal with legalities.....this was the whole reason AA transferred to Ribet, in order to get to a "real" HS that the NCAA recognized.
I have colleagues in my fortune 50 company who for visa reasons are afraid to leave the country for fear they might not be able to get back in, based on the stage their visa application is at with the INS.
She has been seen only sporadically in team videos relating to practice. She does warm up with the team however. Last game, she had a sleeve on one leg....
So, any or all medical possibilities are still open as well.
I think I will just sit tight and wait for some sort of official word. It's an intriguing situation, but one that involves a talented young lady and perhaps issues that for legal or decency reasons cannot be discussed by SR. To me, the most encouraging aspect of all of this is that she isn't moping, she is smiling and engaged and appears to be an integral part of the team.
In the meantime, I will wish her and the rest of the Beavers well.
Go Beavers!
