OSU Men's Soccer sits on top of the Pac-12 table. When was the last time you could say our team was #1 with a game to play in the season? They are tied with Furd by points, but own the tie breaker having beat them head to head. This OSU team has won thier last 6 games, they just cracked the top 25 at #25, and have already secured a spot in the NCAA tournament. The last game is Nov. 9th at Udub. I don't know enough about the sport (I played football and only recently started following soccer), but I'm guessing if they beat the dawgs and win the conference they will get home field advantage in the tourney. This team could stand a decent chance to make as deep a run in the tournament as any team at OSU... maybe ever? Not for nothing, Don Tchilao, who scored the winning goal against UClala, was named both the Pac-12 player of the week, and the national player of the week by College Soccer News. This is all pretty heady stuff from our guys. I really appreciated all the updates on here about the big win last week. I don't post a lot here, and haven't donated to the cause yet, but I intend to. Regardless, I'll say it again... Soccer deserves a home here. I have no idea how much I'm asking for to create another board, but I do think it would be nice to have a place to talk Beavs, Timbers, National Team, etc. It might be a small thing, but I think it would be a nice gesture to make to honor how far our program has come as well. It's also cool to see all the twitter updates and whatnot for us guys who don't have the time, inclination, or technical know how to look that stuff up on our own. Can we make this happen? Also, with the WBB team pulling down 5* recruits, the football team on the rise, MBB possibly finally being competetive, and now the soccer team coming on, has there been a better time for OSU athletics as a whole? That's a whole 'nother discussion, but I'm digging how things are going at 'ol OSU! Go Beavs!! Tchilao

According to the Learfield Director's Cup standings, 2006-07 were the golden years, as those are the only years we have finished in the top 60 of the final standings. Bolstered mostly by the baseball national championships, but softball also went to the WCWS in 2006, that was Peak Riley II.

Cool, I hadn't been following much since their slow start. Don Boss looks like another solid hire.

I'm not disputing your facts but with Stanford at 6-1-1 and OSU at 6-2-1 it just seems odd for OSU to be "tied" with one more loss than the Card. pac-12.com/mens-soccer/standingsAll that aside, they are having a great season and it would be nice to see men's soccer get one of those Pac-12 championship trophies. BEAT THE FUSKIES! Is a deep run in the NCAA's a ridiculous expectation?

Again, I'm no expert, but I believe because they are tied for points, and because the Beavs beat them head to head that puts them over the top. It's taken me a little bit to wrap my head around it, but a tie is not really a bad thing. Especially on the road. You get a point for it versus no points for a loss. I have no idea what to expect in the post season, but I do think home field is a big advantage if we get it.

Stanford can win the conference by tying or winning its final games .

After Stanford's 1-0 win at UCLA yesterday, the conference title is pretty much theirs. I can't see Cal pulling off an upset. As for post season, OSU is in a position where they can host a first round match like last time when they hosted Denver. Home field, or rather a national seed, does help as they get to skip the first round since its a 48 team field.

A Beaver win at Washington on Friday means OSU gets a share of the conference crown, and the tie-breaker.

I didn't realize Stanford had a game in hand when I first posted this. Pretty cool to even have the opportunity to win it all. Seems like UW has always been a pretty strong Soccer program. I don't know how good our chances are of pulling out a win up there, but if we do we are indeed the Pac-12 Champs! Let's go Beavs! The game is on Pac-12 Oregon tonight at 8.

That didn't turn out too well.
Beavs lose 0-2. Had a couple of good scoring opportunities just miss, but UW had even more missed opportunities. Not a good game for OSU.
On to the NCAAs.

Some very good looks in the first half for the Beavs. If that header off the bar had gone in it could have changed the game, but it seemed like they just ran out of gas down the stretch. Dawgs looked very motivated to deny the Beavs a championship. Frustrating game, but I like the look of our team. No time to worry about it, let's redeem ourselves in the tournament! Go Beavs!!
