Went to the fundraiser dinner. It was pretty good for an inaugural event. I'd say close to 100 there. Many recent alum wrestlers too. Its always good to see those guys back. Sakaguchi, S. Thomas, Perkins, Mangrum, Elder, Dhesi, & Parazoo.
Silent auction items, paddle auction items, no host wine bar, free beer, punch, water. Wrestling swag for sale also. A nice video talking to athletes, and parents of Orange Crush. Coach Lara did a great job.
Z talked about the upcoming season and returning kids. There will be some battles at the different weights. Alex Rich no longer on a diet and will challenge @ 165. Zech Bresser will also challenge @ 165. Terry moving up a weight to 184. Doyle set to take over 174. Dhesi will fly to Worlds on Tuesday, then Z mentioned in 1 weeks time hopes to be named world champion (Sunday our time). They hope to have him back at the semester, after his world competition. It was encouraging they mentioned this. I hope it ends up being true. He didn't talk about the freshmen class too much.
I think this is a good model for fundraising vs a golf tourney. More chance to get wives, kids, older non-golfing folks involved.
