So the Gameday Gripes thread got locked, which annoys the crap out of me because there was some good stuff in there and people were engaging with it in a mostly respectful way. There was pretty minor name calling....it seems fairly easy to not view the topic if you're sick of reading it. But really I just wanted to respond to baseba1111's arguement that we should recalibrate the 45 minutes in line buying something for your kid to quality time spent with the kid, which is so far from the point of the complaint, I felt it needed to be addressed. First off, this was not about quality time with a kid. This was about making sure that the kid enjoyed their experience at his/her first OSU football game, so that FUTURE events can happen where the kid is having such a good time that popcorn or beer or licorice ropes or whatever other material thing is no longer central to the experience. I can't speak for all parents (nor would I ever think I was qualified to do so), but I spend a hell of a lot of time with my kids, and sometimes I think they send me to the concession stand so they can enjoy the game without me trying to explain football to them, or just basically dadding up the whole event. The kid wanted popcorn, the dad wanted to make sure the kid was having a good time. Popcorn (to the kid) was a vital part of this enjoyment. I'm glad that your little angels don't need popcorn to enjoy a football game with dad. We're not all so lucky.
