There's good reason to think that Pivec's stats could actually go down this year. It's certainly likely that her assists will drop considerably because she's no longer playing point. I expect Slocum and Goodman to share the PG position, though Rueck may have other ideas. I would go with Goodman because she's a more natural PG and a better ballhandler. And with Slocum taking over a starting spot, and probably one of our new bigs taking over a starting spot sometime later in the season, and with Taya comfortably ensconced as a starter, that leaves 2 other positions through which the remaining players must rotate: McWilliams, Pivec, Tudor, and Simmons (with Goodman available when she's not playing PG). I would argue that Pivec remains a starter in one of these spots because she is such a strong rebounder and is solid in all other aspects of her game, but with 4 (or 5) good players available for 2 spots, my guess is that her minutes will still drop. And I'm predicting that Simmons will surprise people and get a lot of playing time: She has an ability to attack the basket that NO ONE else on our team has, and with her bounce she should turn out to be an excellent rebounder, and she prides herself on defense. Once Jasmine gets the hang of Rueck's system, she's pretty much a dropin replacement for Pivec. We've got too much talent on this team for Pivec to get as many minutes as she's used to. Yet another series of predictions above from thickhead that likely won't come to fruition. I can see Pivec's 5.0 assists per game average from last season decrease with Slocum becoming the primary ball handler, but I believe Pivec's scoring and rebounding will increase. Time will tell. I will look forward to checking back in on this board after the first few games in November to see how thickhead's predictions are faring. You are a doubter! So when my predictions DO materialize and I call out all doubters, be sure to raise your hand and don't deny that you were one of them. I see the future clearly: Jasmine will have a surprising amount of floor time and one of our new bigs will start by mid-season. It's not just because Jasmine is the best athlete on the team. It's also because she's a natural leader brimming with justified self-confidence. And on the subject of a new big starting, we absolutely cannot compete on the boards with the top teams unless we have some serious rebounding help: McWilliams and Corosdale have not proven themselves as rebounders based either on statistics or on physicality. Heck, our guards (Tudor and Pivec) both out-rebounded KM and TC last year.

Don't forget your other prediction that Goodman's going to take over the PG from Slocum due to Slocums inability to handle the ball. Is that elephant helping with your predictions as well as your artwork?
And on our lack of rebounding. Last season we outrebounded the top rebounding team in the country by the end of the season. We lost one player. How good do we need to be???

I've always felt that Slocum was our #1 PG and NEVER predicted that Goodman would take over for Slocum or that Slocum is unable to handle the ball. Just the opposite. Slocum is an elite ballhandler, as is evident from her HS and UM videos that I have watched numerous times. It would take an idiot to claim what you claim I said. You need to find the post (by someone else) that you're referring to and apologize. Silly. Yeah, we lost our #1 rebounder last year, so of course we need to fill in there. We can't succeed against the combo of Hebard and Sabally, in interior defense or rebounding, with just a bunch of shorties out there. Yeah, I said it: "Shorties". Vertically challenged short shorties.

" I would go with Goodman because she's a more natural PG and a better ballhandler." Sound familiar?
And on OSU's rebounding. The Beav's under SR have always been a team of rebounders. One of my fondest memories of last year was Taya stretching out her arms and blocking out three Bruins so Goodman could grab a rebound. I think the only time I've seen SR mad at his own team was after the Stanford game when he described the Beav's lack of teamwork on rebounding.

" I would go with Goodman because she's a more natural PG and a better ballhandler." Sound familiar? Context matters. The full quote: "It's certainly likely that her [Pivec's] assists will drop considerably because she's no longer playing point. I expect Slocum and Goodman to share the PG position, though Rueck may have other ideas. I would go with Goodman [as a backup over Pivec] because she's a more natural PG and a better ballhandler. And with Slocum taking over a starting spot, ... " This is in reference to Pivec not playing PG, so I would expect Slocum and Goodman to share the PG position. Meaning Goodman is a more natural PG than Pivec, so she would be Slocum's backup. Your excerpt leaves out mention of Pivec and therefore makes the paragraph seem to be about a competition between Goodman and Slocum instead of between Pivec and Goodman playing PG. Perhaps it was not expressed in a way that you found comprehensible, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out what I meant, especially since I clearly said Slocum would be taking over the starting spot. While I can fairly be charged with not expressing myself clearly, you could be charged equally with some opportunistic or careless misreading.

After your extensive editing I agree with what you wrote. Except for the parts about me, those are wrong. But the rest is OK. Just try not to get things about me wrong, and then you will be doing all righty.

Pivec's stats will improve this coming year, no matter how many minutes she plays. Pivec will not be playing the point, unless Beavs for some reason don't have the services of Slocum & Goodman. Let's remember the Pivec at the end of the season, not the Pivec who had a steep learning curve at the point guard position. I remember Pivec driving hard to the lane in the NCAA playoffs and getting to the hoop and converting many times. Now imagine Pivec on the wing on the fast break, or, receiving the ball on the wing in our set offense. Without point guard duties, Pivec won't be preoccupied with managing the offense, and can create her own shot. Also remember Pivec has a very nice outside shot. I'm saying right now, Pivec will be the best player on our team next season. And either Pivec or KTMac will end up the season averaging the most minutes/game.
