I saw on twitter yesterday a kid decommitted. Without looking I think his name is Spencer Shipman out of a Washington high school. I thought I'd come here today and see a mention of it. anybody have any intel or perspective? It was kind of weird, saying something like "all good things must come to an end".

Wonder if the puppies turned him?

I have no intel, and no actual insight into the decommitment process or who initiates it, but Shipman's (committed March 2018) decommitment might have had something to do with Jordan Donahue's commitment (July 2018). Also, there appears to be another possible 2020 MIF commitment out of BC named Alejandro Cazorla. Windfalls from CWS?
Also, another decommitment from the 2020 class appears to be Nathan Hansen, RHP out of El Dorado Hills, CA. Committed July of 2017, decommited July of 2018. Again, without any actual info, it seems possible this action may be related to the recent(all July 2018) commitments of RHPs: Will Frisch (2019), Ryan Brown (2019), Jaren Hunter (2020) and possibly Heith Rasica (2020).

Shipman is now showing up as "uncommitted", so odds are he decommitted.
He's small but is excellent defensively - very good hands, good range and a good arm.
Offense might be problematical. Strictly a contact hitter lacking the ability to drive the ball. An occasional line drive hitter at best and would need to master the art of bunting. Won't clog up the bases with his speed but won't be stealing anything either.
Solid kid, smart player. With + defensive skills and and perhaps an offensive liability? Recruited by OSU, UO, WSU, ASU UC-Santa Barbara, Seattle and Grand Canyon.
Shipman would have been a member of that 2020 class that has middle infielders, Jordan Donohue, Brady Kasper, Hunter Haas firmly committed and maybe Surrey, B.C. SS-RHP Alejandro Cazorla joining the party. It's crowded and Shipman may be be looking at earlier playing opportunities elsewhere.
Isn't RHP Ryan Brown from South Salem a walk-on in 2019? He would be the 7th scholarship pitcher in the class if he has a partial ride.
