Reading an article about the new Corvallis Bottle Drop, and this: (sounds like a typical college student) There are two other return options at the BottleDrop: a hand count which is limited to 50 containers per day and self-serve machines similar to those in grocery stores. They max out at 350 containers per day. Well, unless you are Mikayla Pivec. She busted the bank on both options, but staff didn’t seem to mind given it was opening day and all. Pivec, a junior-to-be on the Oregon State University women’s basketball team, made three trips into the BottleDrop, emerging from a small red sedan with what seemed to be ever larger bags of bottles and cans. On trip one she used the self-serve machines. But that just slowed her down. She used the hand count service for her next two batches, and fittingly from the recycling stash of an athlete, the product was heavily weighted toward water bottles and sports drinks. Pivec lives with four other students and in the past had recycled at Winco, but she chose BottleDrop for Wednesday’s run because of the higher capacity. And the rule in the house is that the person who does the recycling gets to keep the cash, which is available to customers immediately at a pay station in the center. On this day that amounted to $62.50, although Pivec said she might go easy on her roommates by buying some communal paper plates and paper towels with the cash." Go Beavers!

Growing up in Oregon with the bottle/can deposit thing going on, I'd return the bottles/cans from home for gas money.

I sure hope the Corvallis Bottle drop is better than the Salem Bottle Drops. Went in there last week and the line was out the door to use the machines and when I tried to drop off full bags at the drop off door the thing was piled high and you had to shove like crazy to get your bag in. Very understaffed it would appear. Every time I have gone in there I have left feeling frustrated.
Good on Mik for doing her civic duty though!

There goes our Womens BB team.
I'm expecting the death penalty. Going over the daily can/bottle limit has got to be a major NCAA violation.

I can tell you that you will not want to get caught there the monday after an OSU home football game, there is not enough parking, the structure is really rather small, and I am not thrilled about having to deal with it at all.

I was there today. I thought there was ample parking and getting in and out was a breeze.

Pro tip Mik
Plus up! 20% more. That's 13 more American fiat dollars
yes there is a big difference in BD stations. My impressions.
122nd pretty good. The gal at the counter running things was on top of things. Keeping things clean and orderly and putting people in line.
Tigard decent. Clean and not overloaded
SE King Rd dirty & non helpful staff. I got 86'd there. FU SE King Rd
Bend started out good then slipped badly. Stinky and understaffed. Police did a sweep over several weeks and really helped take out the neer de wells out front. Decent experience last week. They opened at 8. By 8:15 there was a line though
Redmond too small and staff was non helpful. Kinda dirty
Bend needs another station badly

You city slickers may have that option but rural Marion County not so much.

Tigardbeav, I just passed him a couple hours ago. I kid you not. He had such a large load, I didn't think he would ever get through the crosswalk.

Was he headed toward this vehicle? i.redd.it/nhthb00svm211.jpgThis POS is semi famous in Portland. I had the honor of walking by it a few times in SE. It is truly spectacular I did not check to see if Mik was driving though
