Aquino Finds a HomeAndrea Aquino did a little research when Oregon State became interested in recruiting her.She learned that in just a few short years, coach Scott Rueck had helped transform a program that was struggling to fill out a roster to one that advanced to the Final Four. That caught her attention. She verbally committed in March 2017 when the Beavers were in Stockton, California, competing in the Sweet 16 for the second straight season.“I really felt like this was the right place for me,” said Aquinio, who was the No. 6 national recruit heading into her senior season of high school basketball. She sounds really modest, thankful, and humble: "It feels great because after all the things I have been through, I can finally say I feel like home. All the experience we are having right now in summer camp it's so awesome. I could never imagine I could experience this. To me it's an honor to be here."

Her last few years in the U.S. have been well documented and very difficult. I wonder how many of us would still have her outlook after all she has been through. Now it is time for her to find the stability and support her teammates and coaches will provide. She will blossom in this environment to become the best post player she can be, wherever what may lead her.

I thought it was worth bringing up this old article (fall 2017) from the Duarte HS Page (PM's school). I wanted to give proper credit to PM and her family for helping AA get this far.
Oregon State signees officially ink scholarship papers - 11/08/2017
Patricia Morris (Duarte High School) and Andrea Aquino (Ribet Academy) officially signed scholarship agreements to become Oregon State University women's basketball players. Congrats to the Morris and Aquino families, a very special day for both families. The Morris family really should be extremely proud, taking guardianship over the past year of Andrea, and assisting with all of her educational needs in getting ready for college. All of this as they prepare their youngest Patricia for college - all of Duarte is very proud of the Morris family and congratulate them on sending two kid's off to college.

The now-sisterly relationship between Patricia Morris and Andrea Aquino is truly a great and heartwarming story. I know that they grew close together during their joint official visits to Corvallis in May 2017. I was pleased to hear that the Morris family stepped up and opened their home to Andrea during her senior year of high school.
It will be interesting to see how their friendship/bond with and support of each other translates to success on the court as they develop as OSU student-athletes.

Anyone know if they are roommates? If so I bet that dorm room feels really small with the two of them in it.
Four years with the two of them is going to be really fun to watch, I can't wait to see their development.

Thickhead, I emailed Steve Gress about something else and he happened to mention that article was posted with mistakes and had it removed for now, hope it's back soon. He said he did three articles, I assume the third is about JS
