Today was Day #2 of team lifting and cardio in Corvallis for the members of the Beavs who are able to participate. I know that Kat Tudor is in Brazil and Taya Corosdale is likely limited in her activity while her surgically-repaired shoulder continues to heal following an operation in May. Aleah Goodman, who had foot surgery following the end of the '17-'18 season, appears to be participating fully.
The players will remain in Corvallis and train as a team through August 17.

bhf - Is cardio training completely "land training"? Or does some of it involve shooting, dribbling and other bb skill building exercises?
When I was vacationing on the Oregon Coast last August I popped over to Corvallis to check out the conditioning program - -arrived one hour after that day's workouts were concluded.🤡
At any rate, if anyone knows the answer to my question let me know.... 3 weeks is a LONG time for bb players to condition without getting some skill-drill or play-ball time....
GO BEAVS !!

If there are bb skills being worked on it won't be overseen by the s&c staff. Just ask the *ucks. In the past informal practices have been led by the players voted on by the team as "summer captains". The Germ and KtMac were the captains last year and with Marie in Germany for much of the summer it fell on Katie to run the practices. At least that is how I understood it.

I didn't hear whether any basketball drills are taking place. I would assume that there will be some under the direction of Coach Rueck and his assistant coaches. Head strength and performance coach Jeff Macy and an assistant strength coach were leading the cardio and lifting exercises this morning.
I have been informed that McWilliams and Pivec are the co-captains. It will be Katie's second season in that role.

IIRC, the coaches are allowed 14 hours of instruction. It works out to around an hour a week. Formal practices will start in late September or early October. As of 2017 the first game can be the second Friday of November. The first official practice can be up to 40 days before that. They can have 30 practices in those 40 days.
It looks like this year the second Friday of November is the 9th. Forty days before that will be September 30. That is when official practices can start but being that is a Sunday they may start on the first of October.
This may have changed so don't bank on my dates.
KtMac and MP are excellent choices. The two that I would have picked and I would guess most people would as well.
Jeff Macy has been singled out by several players as being a very important part of the program.

There was apparently time for the squad to hit the water after yesterday's strength and conditioning session. I think that life is pretty good for these college students....

Does the women's game still start on the second Friday? The NCAA moved the men's to the Tuesday before the second Friday. This year is November 6.

It looks like they did in fact change the women's schedule to align with the men's. Tuesday before the second Friday for first game. Pre-season practices will start earlier as well. NCAA wants to make it easier on school administration, they only need to remember one set of dates for both basketball teams.

Looks like Jasmine might be qualified to lead some of the physical fitness workouts!

Good grief, if Jasmine gets bored with basketball she can become a fitness instructor.
