Luke has been a first class representative of Oregon State University on and off the field. I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors whether or not they involve baseball. If baseball is closed to him through no fault of his own I hope he recognizes that the world needs good people a lot more than it needs good baseball players.

They letter would have "felt" better to me if they hadn't mentioned professional baseball at the end.

It "feels bad" for parents to hope their child get the opportunity to pursue his dream of playing pro baseball, something he's worked for his entire life?

It doesn't "feel bad," but it kind of makes it clear why they're speaking up. Which is fine. The family is trying whatever they can to get Luke into pro ball, which is what any of us would do for our kids.
It still doesn't square with me that it would be more traumatic to call a six year old a liar than a thirteen year old, but whatever.

I think it's a question of family Dynamics parental custody putting a child on the stand who may not totally understand what is being asked of her not to mention of the family who has to watch her go through the process let alone Luke go through the process. Court trials are extremely messy family battles are even worse and regardless of the accuracy of the statements of guilt or innocence by the various members of the family, a court battle would have been much worse on everybody let alone the six year old girl.

It "feels bad" for parents to hope their child get the opportunity to pursue his dream of playing pro baseball, something he's worked for his entire life? no. It wasn’t necessary for them to mention pro ball at all, comes off a little slimy to me. Like, we aren’t writing this just to help Luke, but specifically to get him on a pro team.
