I know this question has been asked and answered previously so my apologies in advance, but..
With 11.7 scholarships to cover an entire baseball squad is it correct to conclude that none of OSU’s 2018 players received a “full ride” scholarship - including star players Madrigal, Rutschman, Heimlich, Larnach and Grenier?

At least one of the players you mention received no athletic department scholarship assistance last year.

This is all very simple--if you have an advanced degree in mathematics and are a high tech genius. Lol. I don't have a clue how programs don't run into NCAA problems. The 11.7 is divided among a maximum of 27 players (though I thought it was a mandated 27) with each guy getting a 25% minimum.
The real interesting part is that baseball guys can receive scholarship and grant money outside the AD money. Players with outstanding academics may get zero AD money or the 25% minimum which results in more scholarship money for the other players.
The full ride, AD baseball guy is a rarity, but the fully funded baseball guy is more common. Oregon State baseball has improved by an incredible amount in academics over the last 15 years which helps the scholarship situation.
Stanford obviously has a huge advantage with the obvious limitation being their tough academic standards. If an economically challenged player can qualify at Stanford, he can get the full ride with or without AD money.

OSU Baseball is building a sizable endowment - and though I am not sure how that can be used to fund non-athletic schollies, I think that the wrestling program is totally self-funded (or it would probably would have vanished many years ago)

It's basically booster $ with the program as a go between. It would be impossible to keep schools from cheating (as is it isn't already) as boosters could just donate to the endowment to funnel $to players. The endowment $ can be used (again my understanding from the brief conversations) to benefit athletes indirectly... facilities, additional funds to coaching positions... that "work" camps, on GA status, etc.

A baseball player can receive any scholarship or grant money that is available to other students without that money counting against the 11.7.

If I am remembering correctly, the NCAA currently has the number of baseball scholarships under review. The committee is studying the feasibility of the proposed number being increased to 14 full rides per calendar year.

Well... 14 would be improvement.... but not nearly what’s deserved.... (and yea Title IX had something to do with all that.... originallly ) Given growth in college baseball as well as women’s sports... wonder how relevant it still is.
