MATTHEW GRETLER INF 6' 185 B-R/T-R BONNEY LAKE, WA. HS
Matthew Gretler is an infielder that has been projected to play 3B or SS in college. Known for his prodigious hitting and relentless effort to get better every year. Has worked hard in improving his defense during his prep career. Has a quick bat with compact power – hit 26 dingers in high school career. Excellent plate discipline and controls the strike zone waiting for his pitch. Fundamentally sound all around game. Now holds 11 school records offensively. Plays in a good program at Bonney Lake HS for Coach Olson reaching the state playoffs in Matt’s final 3 seasons. Younger Brother of OSU’s Michael Gretler that brings hard work, dedication and a desire to be a Beaver since grade school. Has played summer ball with Seattle-Chaffey, Baseball NW Elite and the Royals Area Code Team.

2018: In 27 games Matt was 37-77 and a .481 BA. He scored 47 runs with 45 RBI and 10/10 in stolen bases. He hit 9 doubles, 2 triples and 13 home runs. He had 17 BB, 4 HBP and struck out 7 times. His OBP was .574 and SLG% was 1.155. He leaves BLHS holding 8 single season offensive records and 11 career records at the school.
Bonney Lake High School finished their season with a 21-6 record, and repeated as PCL champions with a perfect 14-0 record.In the opening round of the Washington 3A playoffs, they defeated Marysville-Pilchuck HS 12-6, then suffered a 12-1 loss to Samammish- Eastside Catholic in the quarter final round.
2017: In 24 games, Matt was 32-69 and a .464 BA with 38 R and 23 RBI. He had 8 Doubles and 7 HR with 13/17 SB. He recorded 23 BB, 1 HBP and 6 K’s. His OBP was .589 and a SLG% of .889. His fielding % was 1.000.
Bonney Lake HS completed their season with a 20-4 record. They won the Pierce County League championship with a 13-1 mark. In the WIAA Class 3A state playoffs, they lost in the opening round to Vancouver-Columbia River HS, 6-5.
2016: In 26 games, Matt Gretler was 31-74 for a .414 BA, with 30 R and 21 RBI. He pounded out 6 doubles, 4 triples and 6 HR. He was issued 26 BB, 1 HBP and struck out 10 times. He was 6/8 in SB, had a .569 OBP and an .861 SLG%. His fielding % was .930.
The Panthers concluded their season with a 19-7 record with a 12-2 record in the 3A South Puget Sound League-Southern Division. In the state 3A playoffs, they were defeated in the opening game by OSU signee Jake Harvey and Kennewick-Southridge, 4-3 in 8 innings.
2015: In 21 games, Matt Gretler was 22-53 and a BA of .415 with 20 R and 9 RBI. He hit 6 doubles and 3 triples with 11 BB, 2 HBP and 13 K’s. He had a .508 OBP and a .571 SLG.% He was 8/9 in SB. His fielding % was .972.
Bonney Lake HS put a 15-6 season on the books with a 10-4 record in the 3A SPSL-South league good for 3rd place.
CAREER: In Matthew Gretler’s four year varsity career, the BLHS Panthers were 75-23 (49-7 in league play) and 1-3 in the WIAA state championship playoffs.
In 97 games, Matt rapped out 122 hits in 273 at bats for a career BA of .447. He scored 135 times, drove in 98 runs, hit 29 doubles, 9 triples and 26 home runs. He walked 95 times, struck out 36 times and was successful on 37 of 44 stolen base attempts.
