BRET SOULAGES RHP 6-5 207 DANVILLE, CA. - SAN RAMON VALLEY HS
Bret Soulages is a Power pitcher that brings a high potential to OSU. At 6’5 ½” and 206, he has a frame that can add length and dimension with the help of a college strength and conditioning program. Soulages sits on an 87-89 mph fastball that will touch 90. He projects to reach mid-90’s in college with benefit of college coaching and competition, He can throw 5 pitches effectively, but is focused on a FB-SL-CB mix. Has 74 mph biting 2-plane curve ball. Will need to refine some areas of his game. Pitched a modest 73 innings in his varsity career at SRV (injury in 2018 ?) but see’s extensive innings with his summer teams. Has pitched over the summers for the Warrior Baseball Academy, Oakland Oaks, Athletics area code teams, USA Baseball Trials (dueled with Pfennigs), USA Baseball Pan Am Futures games, Tournament of Stars and his travel team, NorCal Elite. Older brother Jeffrey pitched for CSU-Fullertin.
SEASON STATISTICS:
2018: Soulages was limited to 5 appearances during the season and just pitched 16 innings. Allowed 17 H, 7 ER, 6 BB, 3 HBP and 10 K’s. Posted a 2-1 record with a 3.06 ERA. Held opponents to a .218 BA, .250 OBP and a .338 SLG%. Fielding % was 1.000.
San Ramon Valley HS concluded their season with a 16-10 record and a 6-7 record in the EBAL. They qualified for the CIF-North Coast Section playoffs. They defeated Lafayette-Alcalanes HS, 6-0 in the first round but fell to
2017: Making 12 appearances, Bret pitched 52 2/3 innings, had a 5-3 record and a 2.13 ERA. Allowed 24 H, 14 ER, 30 BB, 9 HBP, and had 54 K’s. Held opponents to a .144 BA. Fielded his position at 1.000.
The Wolves finished the season with a 21-8 record, 8-5 in the rugged East Bay Athletic League. In the CIF – NCS playoffs, they defeated Fremont-Irvington HS 4-3, then lost to Pleasant Hill-College Park and future Husky P Joe DeMers, 8-4.
2016: Bret made 4 appearances posting a 1-0 record and 2.80 ERA. He allowed 2 R on 3 H in 5 IP while registering 2 BB, and 2K’s. Opposing hitters managed only a .158 OBP against him.
SRVHS completed a 17-9 season good for 3rd place in the EBAL and a CIF playoff birth. In NCS Sectional play, they defeated Dublin HS 5-0, but lost in the second round to Pleasant Hill-College Park, 8-2.
