GAVIN GRANT INF 5-10 180 B-R/T-R PUYALLUP, WA. HS
Gavin Grant is an accomplished middle infielder that excels at shortstop but can also play second base. Known for his work ethic and team leadership, Gavin plays in one of Washington’s top prep programs at Puyallup High School. The Vikings were 68-9 over Gavin’s 3 year varsity career there and won a state title in 2017. Puyallup was ranked # 1 in the Washington 4A polls for the entire seasons of 2017 and 2018, and were ranked nationally in several prep polls.
Grant is a fluid infielder. His play looks effortless. Good footwork, quick and with impressive range. Improved his hitting consistently over his career. Was the team’s premier thief, stealing 35 bases during his time at Puyallup. Good speed-has run a sub 6.80 60 yard dash. Extensive summer league and travel team experience playing for Seattle’s Taylor Baseball Club, Elite age-group teams with Baseball Northwest, A tournament hardened veteran of close to 150 summer baseball contests. Has played varsity basketball and maintains a 3.55 GPA.

2018: In 25 games, Gavin was 29-79 for a .367 BA with 29 R and 17 RBI. Had 3 Doubles, 5 Triples and 1 HR. Issued 13 BB, 6 HBP with 13K’s and 22/29 SB. His OBP was .480 with a SLG% of .544. His fielding % was .968.
Puyallup HS finished the season with a 23-2 record and won the SPSL-4A league with an 11-1 record. After being ranked #1 all year long in the AP/Seattle Times prep poll, they started their playoff run by defeating Kent-Kentlake HS 4-1 but were then upset by Decatur- Federal Way HS, 6-5 ruining their quest to repeat as state 4A champions.
2017: In 25 games, Gavin Grant was 21-76 for a .289 BA. Scored 15 R, had 13 RBI, with 7/8 SB. Had 1 double and 2 triples. Drew 14 BB plus 3 HBP and had 17 K. His OBP was .400 with a .342 SLG%. Fielding % was .973.
The Vikings finished their season with a robust 25-2 record. They won the SPSL-4A League title with a perfect 16-0 record . In the WIAA state 4A playoffs, they defeated Pasco-Chiawana 11-1, Kent-Tahoma 1-0, Vancouver-Skyview 4-3, and in the final, Kentlake 3-2. Puyallup was the Washington 4A state champion and was ranked 22nd nationally in the USA Today final poll.
2016: Played 17 games and was 10-33 for a .303 BA with 8 R and 5 RBI. Had 1 Double, and was 6/6 in SB. Had 6 BB, 2 HBP and 7 strike outs. His OBP was .439 and a SLG% of .333.
Puyallup completed their season with a 20-5 record and won the South Puget Sound League with an 11-1 record. In the WIAA state 4A playoffs, they were defeated in the opening round by Everett-Cascade, 4-1.
