Not an impressive group to bring in for the final weekend before signing day. We better hope Colletto, Henry, Hunt, Hall and Tago all pick us or else this class is gonna close out with a whimper. If those guys are our final five additions then I’ll be satisfied with the job our coaches did on a short timeline with a severely damaged brand (thanks GA). If not then don’t put a bunch of guys on scholarships who shouldn’t be more than PWOs, let’s save some roster spots for next year.

Another is being offered a preferred walkon position, an OL who has been offered by Army, Navy and AFA, schools with excellent OLs who also must be able to see what a kid projects to. Yet another has the exact same offers as Jordan Poyer did, Idaho and PSU, and even plays the same position. White must have some academic issues, otherwise he'd have received offers for sure, as a 3-star with his size from a good football state (Texas). Unlike the previous staff, I think our current guys can evaluate. I certainly would be OK with 2-3 of these guys getting offers, and having the walkon in camp.

I can see the concern with this group BUT... you never know who the next J Smith will be... walk on to starter/being a key player in a group going to a Big Bowl Game. We need Bodies... But D 1 caliber players for sure. I do think this staff has done a great job with recruiting. I believe the momentum has swung and we are getting looks from some good to great players... I like the OL for class of 2020 coming to visit. Keep up the good work, we do have a long way to go but this is a great start.

Five or six will end up being a problem down the road if they don’t all turn out to be diamonds in the rough (the chances of which are minute). See the results of 2014, 2015 and 2016 on our current roster. Without at least 3 of the 5 I mentioned, this class would be worse than any of those classes.

Just wondering, who from this class do you consider a project? Of this weekend's guys:
Jones has Big 12/MWC offers. That's not a project.
LaBounty has an offer from Cal. I think Wilcox knows a thing or two about defense.
White is highly regarded in Texas, but not getting offers because he's considered an academic risk. He's not a project.
Robinson could be considered one, I guess.
Elliott is being offered a walk-on spot, so he doesn't count as a scholarship recruit.
So that's one project, at most, of scholarship guys from this weekend. Our other post-December recruits all seem pretty legit.

Jones’ film didn’t look very impressive and with Kansas and ISU his is the most legit list, even with those being the historical bottom feeders of the Big12. Perhaps you have somewhat of a point on him. Labounty’s Cal offer is apparently “non-commitable”. Co School of Mines? Come on man. White is an academic project. We’ve seen that movie so many times. Several guys from the early signing class are projects too. My overarching point is that on the final weekend you want to host some guys who you’re competing with several other big time schools like, maybe a couple long shot guys who you can have the final word on. With that said, this weekend’s list is where we’re at in recruiting after the past five year’s results on the field and the GA dumpster blaze. Tago is a huge win, so there’s reason the believe in our staff’s ability when they’ve had a full year.

Yah i totally agree that with what the staff had as far as time and everything they did a really good job recruiting. I echo what you said about having reason to be excited about future classes due to this. smith and staff have already got 2 of the 5 so called elite recruits and has the potential to get three. I think with anderson we would have gotten 0 with a full year of recruiting.

I'm excited about this class. Check back in 4-5 years. These guys will become the foundation of the rebuild.
