I don't think it will work out. Not because Chipper isn't a good coach, he is. But because the York family has singlehandedly destroyed the 49er organization. Not a hundredth of the owner that DeBartolo's were. It will be funny to watch it though!

It just feels right. He coached the college team I hate the most, and now he coaches the pro team I hate the most.
Fck!

I would have put my money on the Titans They're in a weird position with potential ownership changes, family looking to unload Bud Adams baby.

Considering that Shanahan and Coughlin were apparently the other options, what's clear is that Santa Clara has run out of ideas.
Sad state of affairs for a once-proud franchise.

I wonder if the "ego" in Chipper has taken a little of a beating and he is seen as the more "malleable" of the three. The other two are also control freaks, but with a much better pedigree. They are not going to sit still for a GM poking his nose into their coaching as is rumored he does... actually calling in young DBs to coach them himself. Thinking Chip "won" by default and for the exact opposite trait he is sometimes criticized for... he is now the GM's stool pigeon. Although, it could be said that he was much the same at tsds? Maybe he missed being the 'pawn'...

It's going to be damned hard to root for the 49er's with that A-hole as their coach. Say it isn't so!

Does Kaep flourish, or get flushed out of the NFL when he can't take advantage of his last, best hope?
I've heard Chip is not well liked among players. I think that is something too often overlooked by outsiders. Could be a disaster, unless he learns to be a human being.
