For those that like to make comparisons if by chance the Beavs get to 6 maybe 7 conference wins next year please don't compare it to 5 this year and show that we've improved. It just will show we were in a less talented conference. Thank you.

They have no recruits coming as of now... anyone remotely interested early on sign elsewhere. As usual he'll pick up those late signees that had very little interest of JC types that needed to qualify. There is hope for some quality portal transfer, but seeing how that has worked out?? Barnes is hoping for an upturn as moving to the WCC will give WT some patsies similar to the recent NC schedules. As of yesterday the WCC is rated #11 (Pac12 #6), with members at: WCC OSU's '24 NC 2024 Pac12 St Mary's #16 Linfield (non D1) Arizona #4 Zags #17 Troy #139 Colorado #27 USF #66 App St #72 WSU #45 Santa Clara #104 Nebraska #37 Utah #52 LMU #197 Baylor #14 UW #67 Pepperdine #224 Pitt #44 Oregon #68 San Diego #257 UC Davis #169 USC #92 UP #298 Cal Poly #341 Stanford #114 Pacific #359 Utah Valley #164 UCLA #115 UTSA #265 Cal #124 Idaho St #251 ASU #125 OSU #162 So, the last place 2024 Pac12 team would have the 4th ranked NET in the WCC. OSU, depending on the scheduling with 11 teams, could play (10) games vs opponents well below their own 2024 NET rank. This is not counting the typical weak NC schedule, unless they are again invited to some tourney with some P6 teams. Which of course they averaged 20 point losses. AD Barnes sees current improvement(s) in... the play on the court? Recruiting? Or, the possibility of a much weaker conference to make WT "appear" like he's turn the corner... again. And, or course any semblance of continuity will require the bulk of this roster to remain at OSU. But, of course who can tell... with a team with (22) total D1 wins over three seasons (you know a good one season win total), (11) Pac12 wins over that time, consecutive 12th, 11th, 12th place finishes, and consecutive NET rankings of: 255, 222, 162 (ohhh no... improvement!). So, I guess Barnes is right... how in the heck can it not get better?! |

And, unfortunately, this thread will soon have a couple diatribes on WT being the best man for OSU and how history determines the expectations for a current coach and precludes anyone better wanting to coach OSU's MBB program.
