UCLA’s Cori Close wraps up her Pac-12 conference coaching history after 13 seasons.
Conference championships - 0 Conference tournament championships- 0
Best conference finish - 2nd (tie) twice.
With all her 5-star recruits, facilities, location, tradition, etc, etc. Seems like she’s underperformed.
FWIW, record vs Rueck 11W, 14L

I really like Cori, but she's not a great coach. She is a great recruiter.....at least to UCLA. I have to believe it's a pretty easy place to recruit to, but still, she's got it done. She just hasn't been able to get it done even with the great talent she has. UCLA has had better talent than the Beavs thru those years, but as you say, the Beavs have been better head to head. It will be interesting to see how her team does outside the Pac12 the next couple years. Her Sophomore class is very talented, so they have some time.....but not to win the Pac12.

Good thoughts from rmancarl. I thought that this looked like the year when it all came together for UCLA, but they still fell a bit short in both the regular season and the tournament. Did the loss to USC cost them a #1 seed?

The men's side at UCLA doesn't seem to have much luck getting recruits so I think it's more than just location. Kids like Close, and I've heard her former players talk about how much she meant to them. If I had a kid looking for some school to play at I'd be ok with them choosing UCLA.
