And they didn't seem too exhausted screwing around having fun walking the casino?? Not to mention they are 18-21, 22 with over 24 hours to recover. But, the extreme emotional high of the 1st quarter followed by the frustrating next two quarters would be very emotionally draining. I think “screwing-around” is uncalled for. Maybe I’m over sensitive but so be it. I respect these gals. Oh brother. You really really have to read negative BS into that extremely generic term. Over sensitive... or just screwing around?

Rueck played the exhausted group that played the double overtime game. The major thing about this team is it's depth, and he ignored it completely. Sometimes I really scratch my head about his decisions. Maybe because they are the best players? Tara put in 9 players with over 5 minutes, Rueck put in 6. You don't think Brink etc are the best players for Stanford?

They lost, so that's the way it is. But, where were the 4-5 obvious calls against Beers?! If anything, you would think the refs would be looking out for her after the horrible foul that broke her nose. Guess not. Hey, it was a Missy Barlow crew. Bye bye Pac 12 refs. no such thing as P12 refs.

If I take off my orange-colored glasses, and reflect back, I think you have to be happy with the season. It looked so easy for the Beavs in the 1st quarter. The high screen and ball movement were great. Gardiner caught fire. But, shots stop falling, and the grind begins. We were not quite up to the grind with Stanford, maybe due to the 2OT game, or maybe other reasons. I think the calls were fair, maybe inconsistent, but what you expect from Pac-12 refs. There are 3 good bigs in the conference: Brink, Betts, and Beers. Remember Raegan is a sophomore. You can build a team around her. Gardiner is so improved. I think she can be Maurice Lucas on the 77 Blazers. Donovyn gives us everything we need. I just think 2-4 (backup 4) need more consistency, and that is what we need to work on for next year. There's a reason the top teams have 4th and 5th year seniors. This team is VERY close to being a final-four team. It could happen this year with some luck (certain players having great games at the right time), but more likely next year if certain things happen. Generally, we need at least one more consistent, deadly outside shooter (akin to Timea) who can get her shot off quickly and we need one more tough rim defender as a backup. The former can happen via Dono or Dom improving their outside shooting… in particular Dom with her ability to drive to the basket. The second seems unlikely to happen through player development, requiring instead that we get another player through the portal. Stanford killed us with Hannah Jump, who can get her shot off from anywhere, and Irifan, who is just overpowering underneath with her height and strength. Lily is a great shooter, but her form doesn’t make it easy to get off a quick shot. Dom was more open for shots because of her driving skills while Lily probably wouldn’t have been given the room/time she needs to shoot.

Over sensitive... or just screwing around? Help me out. Is this what you mean by “screwing-around”? Smiling at fans at the hotel on your way to the bus to the arena? Or was it something else? In my lexicon that’s not “screwing-around”. But maybe you meant it as a compliment.

Playful, active, high jinx... better?

Hey, it was a Missy Barlow crew. Bye bye Pac 12 refs. no such thing as P12 refs. Technically you are correct. However, referees are assigned to conferences based on the specific regulations and requirements of a conference for referees, and the experience, performance, and compatibility of an individual referee with the style of play in a conference. Perhaps that is why we see the same referee pool throughout the season in any particular conference, such as the PAC12. Here is a link to a very informative article about the process of assigning referees to conferences: thetechy.life/how-are-ncaa-basketball-referees-assigned/

Here's what I'm going to focus on while waiting : OSU fan support in Vegas was by all accounts the strongest of all the schools. I heard multiple references during the broadcasts of the atmosphere being “like a home game” for the Beavs. Well done. By the fans for showing their support and by the team for understanding the importance of these direct interactions with their fanbase. Especially the young fans who bring their parents to the games 🦫🏀

Rueck played the exhausted group that played the double overtime game. The major thing about this team is it's depth, and he ignored it completely. Sometimes I really scratch my head about his decisions. Nailed it. Rueck was asked in post game presser by Oregonian's Nick Daschel why he went away from playing 8-10 all year to playing only 6 in the Stanford game. Rueck did not like the question--Rueck knows he blew it. In the second half, we missed so many wide open 3's--and the shots were there. Adlee played 1 minute and Lily never saw the floor? Good lesson that I hope sticks before we go into NCAA Tournament. Play the bench! It is our single biggest strength.
