Great work by the Beavs against Colorado. So difficult to beat a quality team three times in a row in one year!
I would love to hear the input from the group on what it will take to defeat the Cardinal today.
Seems like we are so close, so often, but just can't "get over the hump".
They have lost conference games this year to teams we have defeated so it clearly can be done.
Just to dream, how superb would it be for the Beavs to win the conference tournament in a year when both they and WSU were basically given the shaft by the other conference members.
My take is that just about everything will have to go well to win. Gardner, Beers and Talia will have to be at their best. The three point shooting will have to be excellent. Even then it may not be enough as we have so often found out against Stanford.
Go Beavs!

I think OSU will get the W.
Based on what? You ask.
Based on we want it more. This tournament means nothing to Stanford, they’re the regular season champ and at 27-4, a #1 NCAA seed regardless.
For us it represents settling a major score.

In my opinion the Beavs can't afford a poor shooting start to the game. Not saying they have to shoot 80% but getting down early may be tough to overcome with the amount of energy they spent yesterday. Hopefully they can shoot the 3 ball way better than yesterday. They have to rebound tough especially on the defensive boards. Limit stanford to 1 and done. Iriafen will be a challenge to defend. She is a scorer. Then there is brink who is a handful as well. Raegan has to stay out of foul trouble because Rees and Heide can't handle brink. Just my 2 cents.

Your comments are certainly worth more than "2 cents" (grin). I would give them a much higher dollar value!
I agree particularly with your comments about the three point shooting and Raegan staying out of foul trouble.
Also I would love see Talia have a big time scoring game.
Go Beavs.

I agree that a big night from TVO would be great but I sure hope that she can get some help scoring from the rest of the players, starters and subs. TVO and 4 or 5 players in double digits would be great. Ferocious rebounding and getting the 50/50 balls will help a lot.

My biggest disappointment from yesterday was how their offense seemed to be centered on Beers (understandably) but no one seemed interested in being Plan B. The shots didn’t fall, yes, but many of those shots were hurried or rushed because they spent 20 seconds working on the Beers option. It is telling that in the second half and OTs she got 11 of the 63 points—good output, but not dominant. The other players need to get good looks and take the shot.

Don't kid yourself that Trish or any coach goes into a game not caring about the tournament. A coach wants to win every game. It will show continued dominance to the rest of the NCAA, and will just plant another seed of doubt to the Beavs against Stanford if they meet in the big tournament. In watching Brink against us at Gill, her activity and will to win reminded me of someone else I was lucky to watch in college and the pros.
Bill Walton. His game against Memphis State in I think the 1973 championship. 44 points on 21/22 from the field to go with 13 boards. Plenty of high lights on the internet of how he was that game.
If Brink comes in with a mindset like Walton had, it will be tough to keep her of the boards even with Beers.

To think Stanford, Tara, staff, and players down play this or any other game leading into the post season is pretty funny. Stanford's (19) title game appearances equal the next (5) teams together! Since 2002 missing only (3) total title games, '14, '16, '23. OSU being in (2) of those (3 total), '14, winning in '16. Brink was 5/18, Jump didn't score and Stanford still dominated the 2nd half vs Cal. OSU can win, but it'll not be for the Cardinal thinking this isn't important!

Interesting thing about Stanford this year. If you look at their team stats they are very similar to OSU's. Including how few steals they have gotten, bottom 20 in college ball. Wonder if Tara consciously copied Scott or it just worked out that way.

Tara and Scott have a lot of similarities in coaching style. Best I can tell, they have a lot of admiration for each other too. Tara usually beats Scott. Is it because of slightly better talent, or is it slightly better coaching......or does she have some deep dark secret about Scott that she threatens to reveal if the Beavs win? In Stanford's four losses this year, it was one big quarter that has done them in. Normally the 3rd quarter...21-11 versus USC, 22-11 versus Colorado, and 32-16 versus Gonzaga. The Arizona loss was because of a 31-16 fourth quarter. I'm hoping the Beavs don't come out of the gates slow, and I'm hoping the 3pt shot is falling....but Stanford makes that tough. Whatever happens the Beavs should be hosting in the NCAA first round, so there should be more games to enjoy in Corvallis this year. Go Beavs!

If ever there is a game for Coach Rueck to "pull a rabbit out of a hat" in terms of strategy, etc. this would be the one.
I would like to see the Coach really think "outside the box" in whatever ways he determines for this game.
We all know that the Beavs can lose to Stanford by a 5 to 8 point margin over and over even when the teams match up well in talent.
In this game, if the Coach goes "for broke" and we lose by 20, so be it.
I have no suggestions on what to do differently than usual, Coach Rueck is infinitely more qualified, creative, and intelligent than us fans to make those choices.

The Beavs know how to win. If Brink doesn't get away with 7-8 fouls like she did in Gill we have it made.

I like how Coach Scott is rotating the players pretty quickly to put a big lineup on the floor followed by a small quick group to keep stanford off balance on defense. Brink' flop on the Raegan bucket in the 1st quarter was Emmy-worthy but no whistle. I think the refs are going to let them play!!! Go beavs. Come out hot after the half and keep REBOUNDING TOUGH!!!!!
