In my view the Beavs have had an outstanding year no matter the outcome from here on out!
That being said, I believe the outcome of the next four games is critical to the team's chances for NCAA playoff success.
My premise is that the Beavs must defeat UW, WSU and Cal to be a likely candidate to win one or more NCAA play off games.
To lose to Stanford at the end of the regular season and not win the PAC 12 tournament would not, in my perspective, mean that they could not win one, two, or three NCAA playoff games.
I think it is essential for Raegan to be back playing and playing well for that to happen.
The Beavs are a great TEAM. The sum of their parts is much greater than the total of the individuals. But that means they must all be contributing to get the job done.
I look forward to hearing the views of the many insightful and well spoken Beaver believers on this blog.
Go Beavs!

Even last season, I compared last year to 2012/2013, and expected this year to be much more like 2013/2014, in which the Beavs won 24 games, were 13-5 in conference, and I think they came in 3rd in conference play. With the Pac-12 this year going into conference with 5 teams (UCLA, USC, Stanford, Utah, and Colorado) almost assuredly top 6 in the Pac12, and then Arizona and Washington State knocking on the door, I thought it may be tough for the Beavs to win as many games as that 2013/2014 team. Even Washington and California looked to be tougher than usual. Even as we watched the Beavs improve before our eyes this year, I thought 10 or 11 conference wins was going to be tough to reach. I've been running behind all year on how quickly the Beavs have improved. When the Beavs were on the mountain road trip though, I finally caught up and really thought the Beavs would win out the remainder of the regular season. Yes, even beating Stanford. Then came the injury. The Beavs consumed so much energy and emotion in the UCLA game, I had serious doubts they had enough left for USC. Now, my mind, and the Beavs team, are at a reset point.
First, we don't even know how much Raegan will play down the stretch, but even with her, can they win out the rest of the regular season? Truthfully, I absolutely love this team. They are a young team of warriors whose desire to support each other, and learn to win, is unmatched by any team I remember. Saying that, they now have to convince me they can regain the magic they had before the injury. This weekend will show a lot.
Getting around to your comments, I agree Raegan needs to be playing and playing well for the Beavs to have success in the tournament. If that is the case, and the Beavs get to host, I expect wins in those first two games and depending on their opponent, possibly a win(s) beyond that. They looked nearly unbeatable for a brief moment just before the injury. If they get that back, they will be tough to beat. However it goes, this has been one of the more enjoyable years. They are a fun team to watch. I hate seeing the season wind down.

We have no post presence without Beers and I mean zero. Most of our offense is generated around her either directly or indirectly. Rees gets pushed around like a slot machine and has no inside moves on offence, If Beers doesn't play we need guards to get hot on shooting and for the love of God block out on defense. BLOCK OUT!!

The team did remarkably well this last weekend. The win against UCLA speaks for itself, but I think it significantly drained them going into Sunday. They couldn't buy a bucket early, and fell behind 14-3. From that point forward, they outscored USC 47-42 and held Watkins to 6 for 32. Without Raegan, they couldn't rebound with them, and that's why they lost. They won't be hanging their heads though.
So what happens going forward. We're going to win 2 this weekend. The mountain schools are in LA, so there is a possibility that all four will lose 1 game. If we simply go 3-1 to close, we should hopefully finish 3rd in conference, possibly 2nd. If we finish 3rd, we would play the 6 seed (Utah?) in Vegas. Just win that one game, and we should be a lock for a 3 seed in the tournament.
Hosting in Gill is huge. I don't see any way a 14 seed can stay with us in the first round, nor do I envision a 6 seed being able to in the second. We will have played ten top twenty teams in regular season conference play, and another one or two in Vegas. We're battle hardened, and we'll be ready.
So will all the other conference teams. I expect 4 to be hosting, and all 4 going to the sweet sixteen. Furthermore, I expect at least 1 more conference team to do so.
Playing a 2 seed in the round of 16 is a toss up. Much depends on who we play and where. Our youth could catch up to us there, but, God Damn, we're good! And no 2 seed is going to be tougher than UCLA. So my heart, and part of my head, say we get to the elite eight.
Let's play the games and find out!

We've had some awesome teams under Rueck, with some really great human beings as players. This team might be my favorite. Pretty young, but mature beyond their years.
Lots of important role players. But this team goes as Beers, TVO, and Gardiner go. And specifically Beers. As Lefty said above (and I'm sure most other fans would agree) we just don't have a presence in the paint without her......Timea can make it happen....she's pretty dam good one on one down low. But Beers is a physical presence that makes everything go for this team.
The silver lining with her out for the majority of UCLA, and all of usc, was I think it rallied the troops. With her back, I think we are rollin.....without her, I think we hang, but struggle. Be nice to have her back and win 3 of 4, and if she's back maybe we beat Furd.

what do you think now, just curious. Some what of a melt down. Need Beers it appears to give our offense a real chance. Beers is the real hero here it appears. No win against a tough MINDED stanford team. We could cave even against cal they have a tough team like washington. I thought the WSU game looked like a good come back rally victory. But we really laid an egg with washington. With everything on the line. We were not up to the challange. What would USC be like without Ju Ju. Same sort of thing. Good players demand alot of attention. Thst gets everyone going we will have our chance with beers back hopefully soon enough. That injury must have to have been one strange event for her to have to entertain in the mist of a great team run! Go beavs

Looks like we split at best. If we do we might have to play washington first in pac tourney?
