Down 5 with 1:50 to go and freshman Dono hits the biggest basket of her young career so far swishing a clutch 3 from the corner to pull us within 2. After we get a stop on UCLA Talia drives to the hoop and gets knocked down and coolly sinks both FT's to tie the game with 1 min. to go. UCLA ball now and they work it around and get the ball to Betts right at the basket but Talia steals the ball from her as she is going up for a sure 2! 40 seconds to go and the game is still tied and Talia walks the ball up the court and works the shot clock down to 10 before starting a play and then makes a low pass to Timea who fumbles it and then gets fouled by Betts in the scramble for the loose ball. 15.5 seconds left and Timea goes to the line and confidently swishes 2 FT's to give us our 1st lead in forever in this game after being down by 7 pts at the 2.5 min. mark. Up 2 pts now with 15 secs. left and UCLA ball and Dugalic hits an absolute crushing dagger of a 3 with 6.8 secs. to go giving UCLA the lead back by one! OS ball with 6.8 secs. to go and Talia takes the inbounds pass and see's an open lane to the hoop and drives it in for the lay-up with 2.9 secs. to go to give us the lead back by one. It looked like she was fouled on the play but the refs let it go. UCLA ball with 2.9 secs. left and they go to Betts at the top of the lane---one foot was behind the 3 line and one foot was on the line and she turns and drills another absolute crushing dagger of a shot to snatch victory away from us (or so it seemed at the time) with 1.1 seconds to go! It was a great play call by UCLA to go to Betts because we didn't have a big left that could challenge her shot but still for a 6'7" post to drill that long shot with 1 second left was f***ing unreal! So 1.1 seconds left and assistant coach Aleah drawing up another great end of game play for us which gets 2nd option Talia open just long enough to launch a perfectly back-spinning high arching floating 3 pointer that finds the bottom of the net to absolutely crush the Bruins who thought they had won the game!!----Now I remember a game a few years ago where Katie Mac caught an inbounds pass in mid-air in the lane and put in the basket with less than a second to go to either win or tie a game, but this one was better because we had to survive those 2 crushing daggers doled out by UCLA in the last 15 seconds and compose ourselves to deal our own dagger back to them with less than a second left! I'm thinking this game is the classic of all instant classics in women's basketball.
