Players are allowed to wear their nIL sponsor on their uniform?. It would be weird to see a Nike swoosh on the team jersey next to a under Armour logo for one player and an Adidas logo on another player.

Gloves and shoes, though............Sideline and postgame hats and shirts. Yeah, I could see that.

After all that has happened recently in college athletics, it takes a bold man to say "Never happen".

We are moving toward a more capitalistic format like in pretty much every other country on Earth. (The United States of America is like ultra-capitalist in everything and then stupid state-sponsored socialistic monopolistic bulls#*t in pretty much every sport.) But you do not see anything like that even in the far more capitalistic systems of Europe. I shouldn't say never, but it would be shocking to see something like that develop. Gloves and shoes, though. That is where players can and should make their money. In other sports, you could have other equipment sponsors. In football, gloves and shoes. Maybe kickers have special equipment sponsors.

More like cabal-controlled in pretty much every sport, unless you are calling the NFL's non-profit status, or MLB's antitrust exemption, state sponsorship. It's more like a laissez-faire attitude from the government than a direct sponsorship. Of course, within the NCAA's realm, you do see a lot of state sponsorship - most recently our Prez. and A.D. went hats in hand to Salem asking for the taxpayers to sponsor $31.8 "loan forgiveness" to cover the COVID-related operational expenses incurred by athletics and paid for by the academic side. I bet folks in Salem wouldn't mind sponsor patches on unis if it could get them out of that ask...

I see it thusly--People loathe "socialism" (In common practice, a term with a very flexible definition, BTW) until it directly benefits them. In that, billionaire sports team owners and people making minimum wage see it the same way.
But I would love it if cities/states would stop funding professional sports team stadiums. If they want a playpen, they can build it their own damn selves.

Of course, if that happens, the state should have no right to charge an "entertainment tax" or some other user fee onto the cost of a ticket to an event held at a private venue. But of course they will.

Maybe kickers have special equipment sponsors. Prior to the UFC putting the clamps down via the Reebok deal, MMA athletes were permitted to rock sponsors on their shorts. Donald Cerrone's Muay Thai shorts with the Budweiser logo across the front were my favorite. In Pride, Bellator and pro boxing, athletes wear sponsor gear. Combat athletes are obviously a different ball of wax, I realize. But if there is a slippery slope, we are on it already and halfway down with NIL being the first domino to fall.

How long until players are allowed to major in the sport they are playing, football, basketball etc. or maybe enrolment will be optional. Sounds crazy but at the rate things are changing who knows...
