As most of you state of Oregon Comcast subscribers probably already know, Comcast has changed how they carry the Pac-12 Network.
Whereas you used to get Pac-12 Oregon on ch. 420, Pac-12 Oregon HD on ch. 720, and Pac-12 National on ch. 721 (if you paid the extra charge), things are now different.
Standard-Def ch. 420 is now Pac-12 National SD, HD ch. 720 is now Pac-12 National HD, SD Pac-12 Oregon is now part of an extra-charge sports package, and HD Pac-12 Oregon is not available.
Needless to say, this sucks. Does anybody know if this was initiated by Comcast or was done at the behest of the Pac-12 Network? I want to know to whom I should direct my angry emails.
Also, does anybody know if the Pac-12 sets up their games so that there are not two games scheduled at the same time on the broadcast affiliate, or are we going to have to get used to a lot of OSU games (cause our team sucks and we're a small market) being tape-delayed?

Being a DirectTV customer who doesn't have the damn network FOR A THIRD DAMN YEAR....I'm wishing that I even had your problem!!! But yeah, that does seem stupid to add the Oregon channel to a pay tier and then not even offer it in HD? What year is this??

This looks like the first step of the discontinuation of all the so-called regional networks.

Actually I believe this is a good thing. For instance, during that PAC-12 basketball tournament, we were stuck watching OSU (and uo) game replays instead of tourney games involving the other schools. When it comes to having multiple broadcasts schedule on the network at the same time, I assume we will still get the regional game - much like we do on ABC. I guess I don't that for sure, but believe that was the impetus behind getting Comcast to switch the national network to the basic package.

There was a lot of anger around the Pac-12 basketball tournament because games were being played on the national Pac-12 channel and people who didn't pay for the extra sports package weren't able to watch. So any beaver fan not living in Oregon was unable to watch OSU play unless they paid extra for the national channel. The conference then asked all the TV partners to make the national channel part of the basic package and the regional channels are now extra. This is ultimately a good thing for fans. You won't miss any OSU games and you can watch other teams play as well.

Any game being shown by the Pac-12 network will be shown live on the national channel. They will only broadcast one game at a time. This is why they have distribution partnerships with Fox and ESPN. The regional channel is mostly for replays. You won't miss any OSU games and there won't be a tape delay.

The real losers here are the fans of local "Olympic" sports. You're probably not going to be seeing many OSU soccer/softball/volleyball events in HD anymore. Those will be kicked to the regional channel and you'll be watching them on your iPad or in SD on the pay channel.

But you gotta give you major sports the best treatment, they pay the way for all the others.

It was insane that I could watch a replay of the Beavs losing to Cal six times a day in HD during the hoops Pac12 tournament, but had to watch Arizona vs. Washington on an SD channel 300 channels away amongst a cluster of channels I didn't even get.
