Oregon State announced the addition of OF Canon Reeder to their stellar 2022 recruiting class. Reeder was an All Intermountain Conference selection as a freshman in 2019 at Bend's Summit H.S. Like all Oregon prep baseballers he missed the entire 2020 season because of the Pandemic.
Canon transferred to Summit HS from Gulf Breeze, FLorida near Pensacola on the Gulf of Mexico. He'll bring a quick bat and quick feet to the Beaver program. He's recorded a 6.41 sixty. Good student, carries a 3.9 GPA.
He is the 9th commitment to the OSU class of 2022 and the 2nd outfielder.

I need to clarify a point on recruiting posts. Most of the kids being recruited are good athletes and may play several positions. I try to determine a kid's primary position or the position Oregon State is recruiting him to play if that has been made known. That can be tricky and you can easily be fooled.
I have posted recruits that clearly are middle infielders only to find out OSU is recruiting them to play CF or to pitch. Some examples, Bryce Fehmel was an All CIF and LA Daily News All City SS at Augora HS. He arrived here with Nate Yeskie intent on giving him a long look on the bump. He was a short inning closer at Augora which I brushed aside - he was SS. Christian Chamberlain was a .500 hitter in CF for Reno High as well as an effective pitcher. UNLV liked him in the OF, UCLA offered him as an OF with a look at pitching and OSU recruited him solely as a pitcher.
On occasion the listed primary position is really a secondary position in terms of the kid's recruitment. Everybody evaluates prospects differently. Some other recent examples with future players are Paul Myro who has played 3B-SS-2B and Catcher. Strong with + speed (a standout running QB in HS), Paul projects HR power+ and my thought is 3B but I see 2B mentioned frequently with him. Add to that, he is considered a definite catching prospect. Mason Guerra and Malakhi Knight are both big and athletic. They have been projected as infielders and outfielders, what is primary and what is secondary with them? Casey Swanson from Walla Walla is a slick fielding SS that runs well enough and has the arm to play CF as well. He plays both. Victor Quinn has played 3 or 4 positions and has a good stick, but I continue to see him touted as a pitching prospect. What do the Beaver coaches see him as?
Finally Reeder. An athlete with the Bulldog attitude of Christian Chamberlain that plays MIF at Summit HS in Bend. I'm not sure what he is, he's grown steadily and is hitting 85 mph on the hill at Driveline with a clean delivery, and only a Sophomore. I said outfield with 84 OF-velo and a blistering 6.41 sixty. That's faster than McDowell and Boyd. What do you think?
I'll make more of an effort to cover the secondary position possibilities then we can all be confused.
