The White Sox badly need a starting pitcher and the Red Sox have a good one they might be willing to part with but for a huge price. According to the Athletic baseball writer, Peter Gammons, Chicago wants Benedetti and David Price, Boston wants Madrigal and Vaughn, 2 of the top 4 prospects in the White Sox farm system.
Since the White Sox are on a re-build for the long haul, the Boston demand might be a non-starter - a deal-breaker. Mixed feelings on this one from Nick's perspective.

IMO, there's no way that the White Sox trade both Madrigal and Vaughn. That is a non-starter. I can see one or the other, probably Vaughn, being shipped to the Red Sox. The White Sox may trade Madrigal, if they can find a solid second baseman somewhere else, like in the free agent market. However, all of their recent moves have indicated that Madrigal will be the White Sox' second baseman starting some time in the April-June time-frame.

Seems like the Sox are shopping Price to EVERYONE, hoping to get the best combination of salary relief/prospect return. Obviously, the Red Sox will have to eat some of Price's contract, but some team with a lot of room under the tax threshold might be able to help Boston get some kind of return on Price.

Would be nice to see Nick go to a winner. Angels are trying to build one, so maybe Matty would be a good fit for them.

With the ways that they are approaching the season, the White Sox seem more primed for short-term success than the Red Sox, especially with the Yankees putting together the best MLB team on paper. I personally would like to see Matty wind up at a pitcher's park like Oracle. If he can limit home runs, he could put up some phenomenal numbers.

ChiSox just free agent signed P Dallas Keuchel. That might be the move they needed that makes a trade sorta moot (and they also signed a lower profile P two days ago). I’m looking for Nick in MLB for White Sox, come June.
