I love reading this stuff, but can someone stop referring to the Gazette Times as a publication? Corvallis doesnt have a city newspaper anymore, first it became the Albany G-T, and then they fired the editor and now it's a Wisconsin based document with almost no resources.

I don’t see that reference in the post you’re responding to.

Whoever reports on it, I doubt we'll see Abel again on the mound as a Beav. 'Hope I'm wrong.

That almost forces him to return for the 2021 season. But hey, wasn't be going to transfer to Arizona to follow Yeskie? That's what I read from some on this board.

FWIW:
Reliable sources have reported Kevin throwing from 60'6" recently. Those same sources report he has had a Michelin 5-Star rehab period to date.

Charlie 1934-Rasmussen was drafted in a high round (#5?) and didn't pitch in his sophomore or junior year, right? Abel's situation is similar, in that he was a once in a life time college pitching ace (better than Rasmussen was) as a Freshman, but did not have the velocity that Rasmussen had, at least as a Freshman.

Your Michelin scale is 3 Stars. C'mon, the new "In and Out" burger joint in Keizer earned 3 stars.
Kevin Abel is special and is measured on a 5-Star scale.

Rasmussen was selected in the first round in 2017 because he'd pitched again in college that season after his original surgery and shown he appeared to be completely recovered. The post-draft MRI showed otherwise, he had another surgery, did not pitch the following year, and then fell all the way to the sixth round of the 2018 draft. That's a significant dropoff.

Oregon State's most high-profile player seems unlikely to play an inning next season. Kevin Abel, the most outstanding pitcher of the College World Series as a freshman in 2018, continues the rehab process after Tommy John elbow surgery last spring. The junior right-hander is at practice every day and, said Canham, has embraced a role as a sort of player-coach.
From Tribune / Eggers October, 2019 With the team Not likely to pitch No mention of Yeskie / Arizona
