A given: we all love our Beavs and Pat Casey.
Personally, my heart will always be filled with love for a couple of MLB teams but even I realize it's time to get over it. I still have old videos of Beaver CWS games and until Comcast stole my saved recordings, I watched the the 2018 Championship games at least 15 times. Mitch Canham demonstrated incredible leadership as a Beaver player and has had success at every level since then. So, why this nagging reluctance to embrace him?

I think the reluctance to embrace him lasted about 5 days. The impression I get is that the fan base is all in.

Maybe it would it would be a bit of a disconnect to rename the boards after coaching changes. I don't think there is a reluctance to embrace Mitch, I think it's more like anticipating prom night with a hot date. Until the dance starts, you're only hoping it turns out great.

"Coley", Tanselli, Riley, Casey, "Bales", and now Mitch.
Good coaching has always been the Hallmark of Oregon State Baseball.
Nothing has changed.

Don't be so sensitive?

Perhaps we should keep the name the way it is until we need a little mojo to turn around a losing streak.

Was talking to one of the vets (can wear a 2018 ring) and he said that the team just loves the coaching staff, the weather (they are working their tails off in great November weather) and that they are looking very good for next season. Perhaps to be expected, but this was not just promo pablum, the kid meant what he was saying.

You need 3 NC rings before they name a board after you.
Odds are this will be Casey's corner for at least 4 or 5 more years.

Casey really built Beaver baseball. 'Nuff said.
(No disrespect meant to Canham. Instead, mega props for Casey. He's a legend.)

Don't forget, our first World Series was 54, and Coach Jack deserves legendary props for just keeping the team alive in the face of institutional pressures to turn OSU into a sportless wasteland. We've always had a good baseball program, a good base, and Case took that good, and made it awesome!

My dad was the CHS baseball coach from late 60s through mid 80s and Tanselli and Riley were always helping out, providing access to the batting cages in the old armory, gear, etc. Im sure others from Corvallis can attest, but as a little kid OSU was Disneyland. Different time but you could literally roam around unchecked...play hoops at Gil, play tackle football on the rock hard astroturf at Parker, sneak in to armory. Then every summer Cheerleader camp...hahahaha

My wife attended the Corvallis Chamber luncheon Wednesday with a few friends where Mitch was the guest. They were very impressed with Mitch as a person who is so grounded, and his story is a very special one. The key for Mitch will be whether he can recruit kids who have an interest in going to college and getting fortunate if they don't sign after the MLB draft...i.e. Madrigal,Grenier,Buck, etc.
He will be able to recruit at a very high level...will those kids ever see the osu campus? If they do,I expect osu to be a contender for Omaha a lot during the whole Canham tenure...
