A year will pass before this class will sign their LOI's and the Beaver coaching staff will be putting their finishing touches on this very good edition of Oregon State recruits with an emphasis on adding pitchers and outfielders down the home stretch. To date I show 12 commitments with possibly one more I'm researching and trying to confirm. Here's what I have - feel free to add to the list if I've overlooked someone.

Just to add to this, here's their class ranking, according to Perfect Game. Not that any of this ultimately matters, but I think it's interesting.
Tyree Reed - #6 overall Malakhi Knight - #56 Jabin Trosky - #147 Jacob Kmatz - #200 Mason Guerra - #271 Tanner Smith - #368 Cole Nelson - Top 500 Michael Tsoukalas - Top 500 Wilson Weber - Top 500 Diego Alvarado - Not yet ranked. Travis Bazzana - Not yet ranked. Casey Swanson - Not yet ranked.
That's a really solid class if they all sign. Comparable to 2015, but slightly better overall already.
Cadyn Grenier - #41 Nick Madrigal - #101 Ian Oxnevad - #232 Bryce Fehmel - #370 Trevor Larnach - #381 Zak Taylor - #437
Steven Kwan and Alex O'Rourke - Top 500
Andy Atwood, Chris Loeb, Eric Parnow - Top 1000.
Tanner Cantwell, Tommy Paul - Not in Top 1000.

I have long laughed at the high school rankings that Madrigal received as well as some of the early pro projections. He has always been "topped out" at every step. The draft, I think and hope, was the accurate projection.

Chin, I see Perfect Game had Trosky as a commit this week. He has been on the Beaver list for a long time. Had he pulled out of his commitment and just recommitted?

I haven't seen anything that would indicate he wasn't solid with OSU. He's been committed for a long time and if he changed his mind, we certainly would have seen something on one of the recruiting sites.
Jaban is a high profile and nationally ranked player, and Trosky Baseball's elite teams get a lot of exposure in recruiting circles.

In looking at the '21 class as currently constituted, we may be done or at least putting the finishing touch on the class. With 13 commits on the books, we could be down to "covering" in the event of a 2021 MLB Draft loss.
Like Mick Abel in the 2020 class, I doubt Tyree Reed ever suits up for the Beavers. He's a first round projection with most of the baseball scouting services, ranking in the 8-10 range nationally for prep prospects. The loss of Reed would still leave us at 12 without much left to do. Adding a few preferred walk-ons would seem to wrap it up.
Malakhi Knight may also be in numerous draft conversations. He has some head-turning tools that might not be ignored by some MLB club.
It's a very good class IMO. I hope it stays together.

A small update on the 2021 Class - these guys will sign their LOI's this coming November. As it stands right now, the class looks solidly committed but the MLB Draft may change that in June of 2021. Our odds of losing Tyree Reed to the draft are very high, he's currently ranked the 8th best prep in the country and a definite first round selection in the draft. This is Mick Abel all over again for the odds makers. Malakhi Knight is also a touted draft prospect currently projecting in the 3rd to 5th round range in the '21 draft.
I can't identify any additional prep prospects for this class and suspect any late additions will come from a re-classification, a "flip", or the walk-on ranks. Of the Top-500 players ranked in this class by Perfect Game, only a few are uncommitted and then, only two are in the west- California and British Columbia. I want to say, I think what we see is what we get in 2021.
A concern with the class but not a large concern, is only three pitchers are in the group.
