We are the worst team in arguably the worst power 5 conference. There are so many hurdles to overcome for this team, they might as well trade in their pads for some track and field unis.
Now they can look forward to playing the cowboys in Stillwater. It just keeps getting better! When the only solace we can come up with at the end of the day is how the ducks did, that says everything about our fan base. The ducks lost but they came to play and they fought...hard...Dye is one helluva defender. They preach toughness.Auburn didn't so much beat them as the heat and humidity did. They will get better. Can we say the same thing? Boise St went to Tallahassee and played their ass off. They fell behind and then they got tough. They shut down FSU and they rallied behind a true freshman qb who made play after play. They found the mental toughness to overcome on the road and win. They will get better.Point is this game requires mental and physical toughness to compete. We are suppose to be a step up talent wise from Boise.Don't think so. You think Hubbard is a better back than Jefferson? He would have run for the same yardage had he been on their team. The difference is they fed their go to guy and they didn't put the game on the shoulders of their true freshman qb.We have as good a run game as we have ever had.We have a stud who was a freshman All American RB.He didn't rush for 100 yards.Toughness is going to your strength and telling the other guy show us you can stop us. When you have a suspect defense that can't get out of it's own way then your best defense is to possess the ball for as long as you can.We are not a work in progress,we are what we are....

You'd think as bad as our defense is the plan would be to run the ball to eat the clock. But nope.

You obviously didn't watch ucla, arizona, tennessee, missouri, kansas, purdue, etc... we are noticeably better than those teams... One correction too; the Poke QB is a redshirt freshman... IMHO, that OK St offense will be the best we see all season, they had a veteran offensive line (multiple all-conference OL returned from last year) an RB that rushed for over 740 last year (while backing up a 4th round RB) and we had 9 tackles for loss (after week one; that puts us #16 in the country for that category). Our D is noticeably better than last year, still not where they need to be in order to compete at a higher level and we will see how they improve week to week; if they don't improve then I would easily concur with your post but after the first game, this post is nonsense - you should head over to angrybeavs.com, you'll fit right in over... Go Beavs!

Everything you said is true but we gave up 31 points at half. How many of those other teams you mentioned have up 31/52 which is what really matters.

Actually looking forward... OSU plays Hawaii in Hawaii. The remainder is negative BS. Feel better?

“Auburn didn't so much beat them as the heat and humidity did.” Well, other than they played inside air conditioned AT&T Stadium.
**Edit: I’ll concede that the elevation is 174’ higher there than in Eugene though.

When the only solace we can come up with at the end of the day is how the ducks did, that says everything about our fan base. It says something about something, but I'm not sure it's about the OSU fan base. I've only seen a few posts since Saturday that were taking solace in the duck loss. There were some posts about the duck game, but most were just about the game and weren't gloating. Most posts on this board, of course, said nothing about the ducks. The attempts at finding solace by Beaver fans that I've seen mainly focused on our offense doing pretty well, OkSt being noted for offense, and it only being the first game. To me, the fact that we're trying to make ourselves feel better after losing by 16 as a 14-point underdog says something about our fan base. It says that our fans expected the Beavers to do better. That does not sound like a fan base who has given up and can only take solace in their rival losing.

You give the Cowboys too little credit. Their QB was highly touted coming out of high school and has had a redshirt year in the system. As for Hubbard, he's bigger and faster than Jermar and had a better YPC than Jermar did last year. The only thing that kept him from being an AA is carries. He had about half as many carries as Jermar but more than half the yardage. - I'm not saying he's better than Jermar, but I can't say Jermar is better than him. A number of Power 5 teams had worse games than the Beavers. It's going to be interesting to see how this year goes.

Okie St was 10-13 on 3rd down conversion and 8 of those for over 6 yards. I'm just sayin to all the leaping off the ledge kids..... we get 3 stops and are we the 4th worst in power 5?!?! (Insert sarcasm there)
Clean up a 3rd down.... mix in a stop or two and it's a different ballgame. To quote the famous rapper Ice Cube "you know it ain't no stoppin all tha dogs / it's Friday night so everthang is poppin"
Come on D get 3-4 stops this weeks and our frowns turn upside down 👌👍
Sincerely, 1-1
