We can't win a shootout. We can't stop them from scoring. What we can control is how many times we give them a chance to score. We have to limit 3 and outs.We have to keep Luton protected and healthy. We have to win time of possession. We have the studs at RB and we have to commit to running the ball.We control the LOS then we have a shot....not just in this game but this season....what better way to develop the necessary mental toughness needed to be a consistent winner than show we have gained physicality.....

I am thinking that what you have suggested is exactly how they will prepare against us - and I think we have a reasonable shot on the offensive side, to control the line of scrimmage ( depending on play calling - if we only get the run game going, imo - we are not going to have much success ). If we can stretch the field, the entire game - not in just the first or second half, that is a big deal to me. Seems like we can look reasonable in a half and then give it away either on the front end or in the final minutes of any respective quarter. ( last two years ). Starting in a big hole has also been an issue. Anyway - Go Beavers, sty healthy and never quit !

Execution in the run game, with a couple of first down passes mixed in. Tight end for a first down. Score 7 on that first possession and use that momentum on both sides of the ball. BIG TIME MOMENTUM if the Beavs can grab a turnover in the 1st Quarter. Beavers beat Cowboys!

I actually LOVE the Beavers in a shootout, I don't think a lot of the Cowpokes QB's, at least from the standpoint of consistency. The Beaver offense can score what they didn't do last year was play penalty free and it cost them a BUNCH. I think that is much improved with the experience returning. Were I don't like the Beavs; in a low scoring tight game or playing down a score. Too much opportunity for Beav defensive mistakes and the Cowboys to pin their ears back and go after Luton. Both defenses being gassed and out of breath I think evens the playing field for Oregon State.

If we can’t stop them from scoring, then it’s deja vu all over again, and another sad year for Beaver football. It is absolutely crucial that the defense make stops at all points of the game (third down, red zone, special teams, turnovers). Coach has has seen this deficiency for a year. Now is the time to show that he has done his homework and things are better. And so far, I believe that he has and it will be.

Turns out a very explosive offense is not a good thing to be facing with a (hopefully) improving defense that could really use some confidence and hint of success. Let us pray that the more one-dimensional Hawaii offense provides a better opportunity. At times it seemed like you could see better play on defense.......and then the next play would bring it right back to 2018.

I was at this game and I was very disappointed in part of the defense and in large part the play of our QB. Yes, he had some good series and some good throws, but number 1 he is still way to slow to get out of his own way. and secondly how does a guy that is 6'7" have 6 throws knocked down? Why didn't Smith at least give Gebbia a shot?
By the way the concessions are terrible and totally disorganized...
