I wouldn't be ashamed to be wrong, but I will enjoy being right.

It's been a long time since I've had the time or inclination to look at another team's message board before a game, but I have glanced at the Okie State board a few times now.
I'll say this, if our Beavs do step up and win this game it will be an utter meltdown in Cowboy country. I have yet to see a post by anyone there that is anything other than abject disrespect and dismissal of our program. Deservedly so? Ok, if the only thing you look at are numbers, sure... I guess. They almost unanimously regard the Pac-12 as garbage as well so I suppose you can't be too surprised by their opinion of OSU. We all know where this program has been. Wins and losses don't tell the whole story, and changing the trajectory of Oregon State football has been a slog.
I look forward to the challenge that Oklahoma State presents, and I have this gnawing (Beav pun) feeling that a good portion of Okie State will be eating their own in a couple days. Even if we lose, I think a lot of eyes will be opened Friday night.

It is fascinating how fans from other conferences will apply "last year" or "the last few years" of Pac12 performance to project how any team in the conference will play THIS YEAR. College football is about change, transition and getting better. Schools like Oregon State improve recruiting, improve their coaching staff, improve their teaching and training techniques, and start a new season with something better than the previous season. But because the "Pac12 sucks", then we (the outsiders) can easily and confidently predict that any team from that conference will suck again this year. Like you said, some OK State fans are in for a surprise Friday night .. and dare I say might even start to be frightened if the Beavs get a lead early.

If I was more IT literate, I would post a GIF of Tom Cruise in Top Gun "Hit the brakes, they will fly right by us" clip - better for the Cowboys team (fans?) to see us as an easy win - hopefully, they will not know what hit them at the end of the game! We need to pass USU and GAG as soon as possible in the rankings!

Objectively speaking, the league has been down for a couple years. Oregon State was bottom of the league when the league was down.. it's not a stretch to say it's too soon for them to turn around the program, especially from the outside looking in.

The funny thing is how recently all of college football pointed at the Big12 and said so confidently that the Big 12 sucked.

Clark, it's the gift that keeps on giving the whole year.
I suppose that's part of what makes the college game so intriguing... I'm in your camp Green! I just want to see our team execute. Do that, and we have a chance!

It is fascinating how fans from other conferences will apply "last year" or "the last few years" of Pac12 performance to project how any team in the conference will play THIS YEAR. Oregon State was bottom of the league when the league was down.. it's not a stretch to say it's too soon for them to turn around the program, especially from the outside looking in. You have to admit from the perspective of an Oregon State fan things HAVE CHANGED. Yes, I get that an outsider would make assumptions and draw conclusions based upon the Pac12 as a whole and recent performance. But my point is that CHANGE means that only some of that prior year influence should feed predictions. As a fan I have experienced some of the HOPE at the beginning of more than a few seasons, only to see my team come up short in the win column (like 1 or 2 wins for the year). But I have also had my hope fed with information about new players, new coaches and other things that make me a believer at the beginning of every season that my team is better than their record from the year or two before. Time for the Beavers to beat the Cowboys in Reser.
