part of the issue with the TE not being used that much is because they're normally back blocking...all they need is a seam, and better blocking by the o-line!

Togiai adjusts to the ball well and can outjump your average linebacker to high point the ball, especially useful in the endzone. But the options dont stop with him, Quitoriano is a huge target if he sneaks across the middle. Smalls shows he can catch the ball and Luke Musgrave is already too good to redshirt. It would be fun to see a power formation with all 4 in an obvious run situation, maybe with Togiai split and Musgrave or Smalls at H-back and then fool the D with a play action toss to Quitoriano. See how far he rumbles. I still say Quits is an NFL tackle if he wants to be. He eats guys up on the run blocking.

I'm hearing a lot of buzz about this Musgrave kid. That Quitoriano is a great blocking TE and Smalls has good hands and is a good receiver, but that Musgrave is that huge athletic specimen in the mold of our past great TEs like Tim Euhus or Joe Newton. Anybody agree with that take?

Yup Togiai last couple years appeared to lack some upper body strength and or bad footwork that made him grab and hold way too much ...really hard to watch, TE just CANT do that out on the edge. I didn't pay much attention to the TE other than a couple of great blocks that just ate LB up, that frankly watching at full speed I was really expecting a missed block. I didn't catch the number, but I am assuming it was Quits.

With all of his injuries the last couple years I wonder how much practice time he actually had, at least compared go what he needed to refine his play as far as penalties go. Hopefully with a heathy fall behind him he'll be better in that area this season.

But, all I can think of when I think of Noah is the aforementioned penalties and dropped wide open passes... At least one drive killing dropped pass per game he has played in at least. We aren't talking the kind where it is on the tips of your of your fully outstretched arms at the height of your jump and a DB hits you.... We are talking no one within 10 yards hits him in the breadbasket and..... whoops, butter fingers

You also know this.... sometimes a guy is who he is. It's not like Noah is a true freshman who has years of learning to go, penalties and drops have been a part of his game for his whole career. I hope he breaks that form this year though!
