Is it a slam dunk that our next All-American is going to be Jermar Jefferson?
Who else you got?

Is it a slam dunk that our next All-American is going to be Jermar Jefferson? Who else you got? Our best bet, yeah. I got nobody else, and I think that is exactly why we have won like 9 games in the last 4 years. I am hopeful we will see a few more candidates emerge, because lord knows we need to.

For reference, Oregon State Football has only had 42 All Americans in it's HistorySo this is a pretty high bar, although in the Erickson/Riley era it was more frequent. I count 24 in that 18 year era (1996-2014), so we were avaeraging 1 or so a year, which would be a great standard to get back to. I really think Brandon Kiper has incredible upside and could be an All American before he leaves here, maybe not this year though. O-Lineman usually have to build up a couple seasons of great play to crack the list. Believe it of not we DO have some talent on defense, I am hoping the defensive scheme ratchets up the risk factor. We WILL get scored on, so we might as well give ourselves a chance at a big play or two. I am thinking more all out blitzes and more route jumping. All that said a guy like Jalen Moore could get some consideration, he already has the rep as the most NFL ready player on the team, he already has a 100 tackle season under his belt and almost 200 in his career, so if he keeps up the sure tackling and can add a handful of interceptions, maybe even a couple pick sixes (caused by the aggresive blitzing and ball hawking) then he would get some all-american hype. It would need to be an awesome statistical season for him (think 80 tackles, 7 interceptions, a couple sacks, maybe a td or 2), but I think he has that in him. Of course another year like last year will have Jermar Jefferson on the short list, although I expect his raw stats to go down, because hopefully Pierce and Baylor are helping share the load more. I still feel like this may be one of the most talented WR groups we have had in a long while, but that will actually be a negative for all of their individual All-American hopes as they will be sharing targets among them. When we have had WR All-Americans they have been the overwhelming pass catching leader for the team (Haas, Cooks) where as I see (and hope) we have 4 guys with 50+ catches instead of 1 with 128 and every one else in the 20s. Which leads me to my dark horse candidate for All-American. Jake Luton. The QB always gets too much credit for what the offense does, and with all the talent on offense this year, and with all of the track races we will probably be in I could see OSU scoring tons of points (which the QB gets credit for even if it is mostly on The RB's backs), and if he can stay healthy, and with all of the recieving talent, I see him having a break out year in his passing stats as well. Of course one thing that weighs ALL Beaver footballers down is the finally win/loss total, it seems silly, but individual awards are of course heaily influenced by your team record for many reasons. So a surprise, better than expected season would be a big boon for any of the guys looking to get an individual award. Even just winning 6 games and going to a bowl would be huge (plus another game for people to see you and to build stats)

I'm thinking David Morris has a chance if he can stay healthy. I was very impressed with him in 2017.

I'll play.
But lets limit the discussion to 2019, I think the only one that could win it this year would but Jermar, but if I had to pick another I'd go with Elu Aydon.
When he is on the field and not totally gassed, he is a force. Problem has been really his overall fitness and injury.
I think with some better guys around him on the line he has a chance to really stand out.
A lot of "ifs" though.

Avery Roberts. Everybody wanted him- offers from Clemson, Oklahoma, Penn State, TSDTR just to name a few. Now he's a Beav. So is new DC Tim Tibesar- who played linebacker and has coached elite linebackers (Joe Schobert, 2015 Lambert Trophy winner, All-American, pro-bowler for Cleveland in 2017).
Not this year- I think he (and the defense as a whole) settles in and develops for a year, does enough to get himself on the watch lists and breaks out next year.

Unsoiled please. they don't even give participation awards for being a speedbump.

I sometimes listen to the Dam Podcast and they mentioned a week or two ago that Elu Aydon had slimmed down quite a bit and was looking more athletic. I don't know what that will translate into come game time but maybe he'll be more than just a speedbump this year.

If he gets healthy I think he has the tools to be a very physical and disruptive OLB. Paired with Roberts........ohhh-boy!! Tago, Hughes-Murray, and Rahsheed are pretty good options at LB as well. Maybe not this year, but Gumbs is on my watch list! Damn, I am getting more excited about the upcoming season than I have been for some time. Go Beavs!! Kick some cowboy ass!!

Non kicking Beavs making AA lists means really good things are happening.

Going out on a major limb...Levengood will be an All-American at OC for osu. With some experience, weight gain, and coaching up by coach M,he will be the next Kyle DeVan.
Choice #2...Lemon at Defensive End...

When I was watching a Pac-12 Network replay of a football game, the scrolling news at the bottom had a list of our conference's QB's being on the watch list for some national award. I swear, 11 names were there while Luton was MIA. Luton is going to have a fine year if he is not injured and should be no worse than Pac-12 honorable mention at the conclusion of the season.
Being undervalued like we are is sure going to come in handy! Bet the Beavs to cover the spread and watch the opponents sink into misery when we get the W's to go with the cover.

I believe Addison thumbs has a good chance but it might be more likely next year.
Luke Musgrave has the tools but not likely this year and Idk if this offense will give him enough targets.
Jordan Whitley is intriguing to me I think he could have a decent shot if he can stay on the field.
