Another projection: Mid Major MadnessOregon State into the NIT. DRATINGS.COM has Oregon State ranked higher, as the 10th team out of the Tournament. That is better but still not where I would like the Beavers to be. teamrankings.com has Oregon State as the 11th team out of the Tournament. All three rankings above have Oregon State fourth in line in the Pac-12 behind Washington, Arizona State, and Arizona. Those two games against the Arizona schools in Corvallis loom large in three weeks. The Beavers need to win at least four of the next five (and probably all five considering the strength of three of the final four opponents) heading into those games with the Arizonas to be in a good position to get an at large bid. Oregon State's magic number is eight. If the Beavers can amass eight wins before Selection Sunday, Oregon State should make it into the field. Short of that, the Beavers would be unlikely to receive an at large bid.

I'll make the prediction that the NCAA will take somewhere between 1-3 team, with two most likely. I think we go to the NCAA tournament if we finish with sole possession of second place in the Pac 12 and a good showing in Pac 12 tournament. What's a good showing in Pac 12 tournament? I don't know yet. Taking Washington to the wire in the finals (but losing) would probably do it, but I don't think a first round loss will get us there. Your guess is as good as mine if anything between those will do.

I am not OK with an NIT bid. This team at this point in the program's development should be in the dance. With the OOC losses, it's going to tough. I agree that a second place finish and a conf tourney final should get us in. But who knows. Just win Beavers!

If this team doesn't make the NCAA tourney, it will be along wait for the next chance. This is one of the most veteran teams in the conference. Once Tres leaves after this year or next this team is going to drop to the bottom of the league. Maybe WT has another assistant in mind who has a couple of top 100 prospects in HS.

We may need a coach with triplets.
