Just needs more time for the data to compile; it's too soon to be a relevant ranking:
Per the article:
Kevin Pauga, the creator of the KPI rating system and one of the analysts who attended the meetings with the NCAA, said it was too soon to judge the NET's methodology.
"I think it's too soon to give a true and fair evaluation of any metric that is based entirely on data from this season," Pauga told ESPN on Monday. "A single result right now could range from 12 to 25 percent of a team's résumé, depending on how many games a team has played. By the end of the season, each result will constitute about 3 percent of a team's résumé."

They knew the data was still half baked.... so why release a list at all? Why not wait another month??? I am sure the methodology is fine, it just needs more time...

And... no matter the methodology or the time in the season, their data collection and algorithm will be tweaked as tOSU being number 1 by ANY measure is a system on crack. And that is just one of numerous examples of absolute craziness. This reminds me of the early stages of the Oregon Dept. of Ed and state testing... "Oh... well, the newest version is not quite right, we'll use last year's version again" The NCAA has to be a bit nervous whether it is 6 games in or not. Releasing this now just gives teams ammo to bitch at the end of the season. I mean they did look it over before releasing it? Seeing some huge disparities over some long established ratings might have been a clue to maybe not release it yet...

I am pretty convinced at this point that the "NCAA" is actually a Russian hacking network that has been playing a long con to see just how much idiocy American sports fans will swallow.... Seeing as how I am actively typing hundreds of words on a Beaver Message Board.... I guess I can swallow a lot!!
