And the Beavers are National Champions...again. For all of us who wondered if Kevin was up to being in the weekend rotation...uh...yeah! What a huge performance in Omaha by that kid. When one of the best pitchers in the nation isn’t the best player in any game in Omaha, when your #2 guy can’t make it past the 5th inning at all, when arguably the best hitter in the nation can’t get a single hit. A freshman pitcher has ice in his veins and records the best performance in the finals by a starter EVER, your bullpen steps up remarkably, and your offense sprays the ball around with the best returning player in the nation next year going berserk and Larnach pulling a Marie Gulich and transforming into a megastar almost out of nowhere in his final year.
What a gritty team, what an exciting day, what a great day to be a Beaver!

Reminds me that so many questioned our ability to compete in the CWS based on our supposed lack of a solid #3 starter.

Incredible that we ran the bases like a little league team, committed an absurd amount of errors, had wild pitches, passed balls, communication errors, were pretty spotty on bunt execution, our best player went hitless in the championship series, our best pitcher couldn’t make it out of the 4th in any of his three starts, and we STILL won the freaking national championship.
Kevin Abel has 3 wins when the regular season ended. He’s got 8 now.
Incredible that we eliminated LSU, who knocked us out last season, UW, who kept us out of the tournament in 2016, Mississippi State, who eliminated us in 2013, UNC, who probably still hasn’t gotten over us knocking out their own “best team ever” in 2006-07, and then polished off a third SEC team with 11 draft picks for good measure.
Incredible. Just incredible.

I'm no psychologist, but I believe Kevin has officially moved past his lack of confidence in his pitching ability.

The underclassmen pitchers showed up in the CWS. Eisert, Mulholland, Chamberlain, and of course, Abel. Amazing. Just amazing.

My OSU hat is off to Bionic Kevin Abel but i think Gambrell could have got the job done in the later innings. All those warmup sessions mean the coaches believe in him. That would have been a different story but also amazing. From starter to deep freezer and then back in the frying pan.
Also, just not surprised Abel did what he did as some of you are. Even when he was wild this year he still had the twistiest sh!t every mound appearance. He was a tasty recruit and has as lways looked the part, aside from the normal freshman ya yas.
Who did surprise? Chamberlain. Remember, he jammed his whole self up into that leaky levy on Wednesday to stop the flood at 3 runs and then kept Arkansas whiffing until they stepped on themselves and the grenier larnach cavalry finally rolled in. Now THAT was impressive
