Let's not forget Lowell, OR's Dexter Lake Club (actual film location) - and the house band: Otis Day and the Knights Robert Cray on bass.

oh, shyte!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yas! Crazy 8's played my senior prom. Nervous in suburbia! If you want to talk about Corvallis, I'll see your Crazy 8's and raise you Meredith Brooks. Her dad Harvey was the band instructor at CHS and naturally the whole family was musical.

If any of ya'all were in Corvallis in the mid sixties you may have gone to a street dance off Arnold Way/Monroe St. and tore it up with J. Michael and the Bushmen. Mike and I shared a desk in Mr Davis's Modern Problems class our senior year and had a great time; our grades reflected it. Dugan Lawrence was a year older and I didn't really know him at CHS. I ran into him at Greenberry Tavern (South of Corvallis) in the early 2000's and we reminisced, over a few beers, about the good old days. If you read the comments below the video, his wife explains the first words of the song. Funny stuff. He sounded alot like Buddy Holly. mb.
Here are her comments:
"The lead singer of J. Michael and the Bushmen was Dugan Lawrence. Dugan and I, Sara Lawrence, were married from 1970 to 1992. That piercing scream at the beginning of I Need Love is Dugan and he's told his daughters, Kinnie Calise and Cherie Lynne, and me that he was saying, "My balls ache." Listen carefully! Dugan was an accomplished singer and trumpet player and an even better pilot becoming known as "Mr. Mohawk" (OV-1). Sadly Dugan died on 9 June 2009 in Corvallis. He's missed by so many."

You guys are forgetting the best one: O-State Ballaz by Mitch Canham, catcher and team captain on the 2006-2007 teams that won back-to-back national titles. (Note: I actually like the video on this site better than the YouTube version posted above, as it appears to be the original video that Mitch intended, but don't know how to embed it. It's pretty cool, though - check it out: www.copper-parrot.com/ostateballaz/index.shtml )
