I come in peace!
OSU looks pretty scary as well. This is a toss up in my opinion. Y’all have an awesome ball club and and should be very proud! I cant wait to see my Hogs play OSU next week.

Thanks and welcome to the board! Tons of respect for Arkansas, and I'm expecting a great series (will be surprised if it doesn't go to a 3rd game). I saw that this thread was linked to on the OmaHOGS board...please know that I meant no disrespect to either Arkansas or their fans. My dad's family is actually from northern Louisiana, and my grandmother still lives in Farmerville. So who knows, maybe our family trees have even overlapped a few times in the past, haha. Here's to a great series - Arkansas is a helluva team!!!

If I wasn’t a diehard hog fan, and hadn’t spent my entire life screaming “Woo Pig Sooie”, I would probably feel the same way! 😆 edit: I don’t have any ties to South Arkansas or North LA (grew up in NW Ark), but I do have two coworkers that are from Bossier City area. Great guys. Only fault is that they are LSU fans👎

Sooie, I really would have appreciated Florida putting some wear and tear on your staff with a second game. Arkansas reminds me of Florida last season but with better hitting.

Man, that’s quite a compliment. I was glad Isaiah Campbell came in and did so well for us against Florida. When he is on, he is the real deal, and he just threw the game of his life. Worked out well for us, and it sure is nice to save your ace for later.

Clearly OSU and Arkansas have been the best two teams at the CWS. Florida lived off its first 50 games but went into a nosedive and didn't finish; Arkansas has been on fire. Pac-12 champ Stanford was 3-6 against teams 2-4 in the conference and won by feasting off the other guys. Once Madrigal got back up to speed, we were the Pac's best.
Should be a great series.

Arkansas lost 5-4 in the rubber match in Gainesville this year. One unearned run was the difference. The tying run was in scoring position in the ninth. If the Hogs had won that game, they would have won the SEC, instead of the Gators. Arkansas won the one game with Florida in Hoover. The Hogs are a good team. Better hitters than the Gators. But their pitching is not as polished and neither is their defense. I like the matchup. Having said that, Arkansas' three starters will be on full rest. Oregon State will either have to throw a mid-week starter or throw Fehmel and/or Abel on short rest. If there was a rainout and they pushed the Tuesday and Wednesday games back a day, that would help out the Beavers immensely. I see the series revolving around whether Oregon State's pitchers are on. If they are, the Beavers win in a couple boat races. If not, the series may devolve into what team can out-slug the other.

Respectfully, I think you are overlooking that the hogs have stepped it up on defense since conference play, and in pitching. We have three clear starters, and Loseke and Cronin have been cleaning it up well. It may very well come down to pitching, but I just don’t see that as a disadvantage for us...been wrong before though. *knocks on wood* My main concern when this all started was our weaker record on the road. Granted the SOS was high, but our road record was pretty dismal. To my relief, there’s been much improvement as of late. Hopefully, we get to play on Monday to use the “rest advantage”, but we should feel right at home in the 90+ degree days forecasted on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, it does seem logical that cool rain would likely favor OSU. Again, to me this is a toss up. Depends on which team brings it, and they’ve both shown they can. Here’s to a good game between our clubs.

We all know about their offense, and their pitcher tonight is dealing too. Would probably take playing pretty clean games to beat them, along with vintage performances by Heimlich and Fehmel. They can mash it just like we can, so definitely don't want to get into a shootout. Rooting for Florida, but so far Singer looks meh, and despite the #1 ranking they just don't seem as dominant or scary as last year's team did to me. Doubtful they'll be able to beat the Hogs twice IMO. And does anyone else find the Arkansas' fans going "WOOOO!!!" the whole time to be super annoying? Not quite as bad as the Vandy whistler, but still lame.
The Vandy thing, I hate. But only because it's a CONSTANT drone for 3 hours. I've heard whistles at just about every sporting event I've attended - no problem. It's just that the jack-wagon who does it in games in Nashville never stops. It gives me a headache. If he wants to whistle when they score, or have a big strikeout, or whatever - super! Just quit with the terrorist sleep deprivation tactics. By the 7th inning, if I were there, I'd probably walk up to him and hit him in the mouth with a shovel.
Conversely, our Hog Call happens at key times in a ball game, lasts 20-25 second, and we usually do it 5 or 6 times in the ball game, depending on flow of the game. That's consistent with the length and frequency of most teams' cheers. Honestly, it's not unusual for opponents to dislike the Hog Call, because it often occurs just as something not-so-good is occurring to their team. So, that negative association is natural. You've probably heard more of it in Omaha because the Razorbacks have been putting a lot of offensive pressure on teams, even in innings where they did not score. Our fans are excited, and that is our way of saying to the team "we're here, and we know you can do it".
It's a very personal cheer, unique to Arkansas and our teams, so it has more meaning to our players than something generic, like "two bits, four bits . . . ". Or, for that matter, the "Let's go, Beavers!" and "O...S...U...Oregon State, Fight Fight Fight!!!" chants. Who DOESN'T say, "Let's go, blank-blank"?
We do have "Go, Hogs, Go!", if that sort of cheer is your cup of tea.

We might want to be clear about which cheer we find lame. Turns out that the high-pitched "woo" we keep hearing (and which I thought we were talking about) is NOT actually the Arkansas hog call. A visit to their forums revealed to me that some of the Arkansas fans find these non-stop constant "woo!"s annoying as well: forums.hogville.net/index.php?topic=662320.0(scroll about halfway down)

I agree, think the cheer is unique and special to Arkansas. Actually wish Oregon State had more unique, across sport and academic identities like the SOooeee call.
