On Saturday against the Dawgs, they threw Ethan Small, who had a very good outing. Went a full 7, throwing 104 pitches in the combined shutout. I assume they'll go back to him on almost a full week's rest in tomorrow's showdown. On the year he has a 2.89 ERA (5-3) with teams hitting .234 against him UW Boxscore - hailstate.com/boxscore.aspx?id=7067&path=baseballSeason stats - static.hailstate.com/custompages/stats/bb/2018/teamcume.htmKeys will be the same as they've been all year. Plate discipline (pray for a competent umpire), make him throw strikes and elevate his pitch count. Hit it where it's pitched, making use of the entire ballpark. Be smart, but aggressive on the base paths. Get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in. Let's go Beavers.

again, they have us right where we want them! Maybe but OSU is without a doubt the better team. If OSU can get by Small (which I think they will) I would pick them to win game 2 as well. Don’t let Mangum beat you.

I'm hearing Billingsley is going tomorrow.
They are saving Small for the Sat. game, or the opening game of the finals.

Billingsley's last few appearances IP H R ER BB SO S/R vs Vandy 3.2 5 3 1 3 7 Reg vs Samford 7.0 7 7 4 3 3 vs Florida 2.0 5 3 2 1 3 vs Kentucky 5.2 8 5 5 0 11
Doesn't walk many. Not terribly impressive, biggest start was vs Samford. Not terribly effective vs quality opponents. I think we'll light this guy up.

Oregon State has the better offense. Just gotta get the bats going. I'm hoping Florida wins to meet Arkansas because they will beat each other up.

It’s nice to look at stats... and who is ready. Or not. Really.... at this point... it’s all about will. Who wants it. And who can produce. Numbers to date don’t really matter.
its us against the SEC....
I really don’t want another all sec final.

Off the field, and before and after the game, it's friendly. But during the game, we all know that he and Pat will be every bit the zero concern for the other team when it comes to winning. It is great to have two Oregonians coaching World Series teams, even if one is SEC - he did a heck of a job this year and I hope he gets the job full time. Now we owe Miss State a serious two game beat down - Danny Hays and the guys will be watching!

So as predicted we lit up their starter. I thought he would last 2-3 innings but only made 1.3. Stats are telling, I didn't think their starter had anywhere near enough stuff to stand up against a hot hitting Beaver team.
Small's recent appearances
Op IP H R ER BB SO UW CWS1 7.0 4 0 0 0 5 Vand SR1 4.0 6 4 3 1 5 FlaSt R2 6.0 5 2 2 3 8 Florida 4.1 5 3 3 2 6
He did OK against competitive teams, I compare us to Florida. It won't be batting practice like today but I don't see a dominating ace. Without knowing what he throws not sure. We have have more trouble against junkball pitchers, fastball pitchers we seem to have a better eye and patience. I think we will score but we can't have base running brain farts like to, if we have an offensive advantage going we can't blow it tomorrow.
