I watched him in the first ASU game last weekend. He did have 1 nice hit and hit another ball hard but right at the SS for a DP. His defense is elite, and you expect timing at the plate to take a little time after an injury like that, but I will sure be happy when he’s back up to snuff at the plate.

I thought he tattooed a couple last night, just right at people. That's baseball. You're going to go O-fer every once in a while, even Nick. He'll come around.

Nick is 11-35 (.314) since returning 8 games ago. That’s pretty solid.

You're right. That seven game hitting streak (that ended last night) since he returned was pretty pitiful.

He'll come around. ...not to mention the B7 rope he hit in Saturday's loss to ASU. It goes in the scorebook as a DP...but with 2 on and 1 out, it could just as well been an RBI single or tying double had the second baseman (update: Ooops - 1st Baseman) been a few feet one way or the other (Grenier was off on the pitch from 1st). Sort of a McCovey - B. Richardson moment 1962, final out of WS Game 7. Well...maybe not quite that dramatic - but it immediately came to mind when I saw that 4/28/2018 7th inning play.

Yah, Nick's pitiful performance right now - sigh. People speak before checking stats, people don't watch a game and then comment on the box score.....in the loss to ASU on Saturday, he hit a shot that, if the first baseman hadn't been able to snag on a great defensive play, clears the bases, gives the Beavs the lead, and probably brings Jake in to close and totally changes the dynamic of that game. But that just shows that Nick is not the player he was before he got hurt, and heaven forbid he can't get anything better together than a multi-game hitting streak coming off being out 7 weeks with a broken wrist, while he plays error free 2nd base and leads the team as captain.....

Exactly! He's doing GREAT!

You're right. That seven game hitting streak (that ended last night) since he returned was pretty pitiful. Sarcasm received, but .314 is pretty pedestrian for him. He typically sprays the ball and Is capable of doing it with some pop. I’m comparing him with himself - a player who was mentioned as a top 5 pick and National POY candidate at the beginning of the year.

If you think that his performance coming off the injury through 8 games has at all changed his national status or draft spot...oh, never mind Just a note here, he is hitting .360 in his 6 Pac 12 official series games.

Let's not be overly dramatic (speaking of dramatic). Madrigal put a little inside out swing on that pitch and it charitably could be described as a soft line drive. Going from a foggy memory of seeing a video of McCovey's line drive, that may have left the bat at 120 mph.

I don't know what you're smoking. His line-drive out on Saturday was smoked.

I was intentionally being over-dramatic...after all McCovey has been quoted as saying it was the hardest ball he ever hit. Still, Nick did SMOKE that one. I really don’t believe there’s anything wrong with his plate approach at the moment.
