Jaime Nared (TN) #13 overall pick. Round 2.
Monique Billings (UCLA) #15 overall pick. Round 2.
Mercedes Russell (TN) #18 overall pick. Round 2.
Mikayla Cowling (Cal) #33 overall pick. Round 3.
Leslie Robinson (PT) #34 overall pick (of 36 picks, total). Round 3.
Oregonian article (on Gulich, Nared, Russell and Robinson) Marie Gulich leads 4 players with Oregon ties selected in 2018 WNBA draft"So imagine her surprise -- and the raucous reaction from the OSU teammates gathered around her at a Corvallis watch party Thursday evening -- when Phoenix selected the 6-foot-5 German center with the 12th and final pick of the draft's first round." Also mentioned in the article: "oregon sharpshooter Lexi Bando, the Pac-12 career leader in three-point accuracy, was initially projected as a third-round pick but ultimately was not drafted." I was a little surprised Lexi was showing up on some mock drafts to be quite honest - while she has skill in chucking it from beyond the arc, I did not think she played with WNBA level physicality..... Go Beavers!

Lexi made the unfortunate decision to go with Graves. He rode the Jillian Ailene train and then found his dynamic duo. She was under used and under appreciated in his system.
I'm not sure of his ability to develop players, he can get the talent though (uncle phil helps I'm sure).

Speaking of Sydney- She seems to be doing really well playing in Italy. I recently saw that someone posted her shooting stats. She was shooting well over 400% for 3's and and close to 500% reg. Bodes well for her chances of staying with the Sparks this season. Tried to find it to post here but failed.
The WNBA is always looking for players who can consistently knock down the three's. They even over drafted Kaleena Mosqueda Lewis some seasons back. Then found out she is slow and can't guard anyone but is still on the roster. If you can knock down 3's and can play defense they will make a spot for you. I think Lexi Bando was hurt because of her injury that sort of hindered her at the tail end of this season. They will still give her a shot, but will have a very very hard time making the Sparks roster. They have brought in quite a few guards.

Bando was hurt more being on the schmucks.

Her percentage for 3pt shots was over 400 % and her total shooting percentage for both two's and three pt shots was a combined about 500 %. They are two separate statistics.
Ultimately Bando would have to make it as a three point specialist and that is a real long shot on the Sparks. Very few players not drafted in the first round make teams. Just to few teams and too many new players every year.

I thought Syd was working out with the US national team, I didn't realize she was in Italy. She did have a good season in Australia. I really hope she gets some time in the WNBA this year.

My numbers on her shooting percentages were just a rough guess as I remembered them. I think I stated that. I however tried to find the post and failed to do that. I did check the Italian league and found she was actually not in Italy. Found out she was playing in Australia for the Townville Fire and helped them to win the WNBL Championship. The post I got my information from only had her 3pt percentage right it was 425 % as I remembered it ( but didn't post because I was not sure.) I guess this teaches me to believe everything that is posted. The poster did have a realistic looking line score.

I really hope that the sparks play her this year, she didn't see the court much last year. When she did play they didn't use get as a sharp shooter much, mostly she was just taking up floor space and playing good defense.
She did get to play more in Australia and was even given the ball to shoot and yes her numbers were good. I don't have the numbers handy but 42.5% sounds about right.

When she did play they didn't use get as a sharp shooter much, mostly she was just taking up floor space and playing good defense.---------------------------------------------- If she makes the team this year the odds are good that her playing time will increase. Two of her competitors as backups were Carter ( at wing ) and Williams at off guard did not shoot well last year. Carter who was sort of known for defense also did not do well in that area when she returned from her injury. Williams ( some say has a guaranteed contract might not be on the team this season ( they might try to trade her.) She was known for instant offense but in two seasons, as a volume shooter, has not provided anything close to that and her defense last season was really sucked. Angler does not really like to play rookies so Sids lack of playing time last season was no surprise. Still her spot on the roster is not a lock because there are a whole bunch of guards that they brought in this season, but Sid has a leg up because of being on the roster last season and she does have a quick release. Still it is really hard to make a WNBA roster because there are not that many teams and each team carries so few players. Most teams usually struggle to stay under their salary cap so they carry as few as 11 players.
