Pearce is a badass.
Sure plays like someone who has wanted to be a Beav since he was in 1st Grade...or so the story goes.

Need Bryce to go fairly deep tomorrow. Eisert can go a few, and Mulholland can go a couple. Feel good about tomorrow Way to go Beavers.

No one went 56-6 for the past 20-30 years. No one will go 56-6 for the next 20-30 years. Last year was an enjoyable fluke, well beyond our historical norm. We were the college equivalent of the 2001 Mariners. So don't be concerned "if we're not as good as last year." No one else has been in the past 20 years, or is likely to be for the next 20 years.
We are 21-3, an excellent record by any standard. We are 6-2 in conference, despite playing 6 of our first 9 on the road. Our nonconference schedule was similar to what we've always played. We haven't had our best player for 18 games.
We'll be OK. The sky is not falling. It's a long season. Everyone has stretches where they don't play as well as possible, or lose some games. Have some faith in our coaches, and our players.

Except, for the fact if you actually pay attention there's no way you vote this team #1. Others, have simply pointed out disparities of this team's performances and execution, not outcomes. Not to last year, to how the "program" had played ball. Every baseball poster is well aware of our W/L record and who and where we've played... who's been missing. Posters also haven't made excuses for Nick's absence. They simply have pointed out what's also "missing" in playing 6 of our first 9 vs the weak sisters of the Pac11. And, not looking particularly good doing it, especially on the mound. Thus leading to concrete concerns when actually facing Pac11 title contenders. I've seen ONE over the top post you describe. Hence, it seems the "sky is falling" only to those that perceive "the sky is falling"?? 😉

Just getting going on conference and current wins aren’t that impressive Stanford has a better current resume and is a really good team

Just getting going on conference and current wins aren’t that impressive Stanford has a better current resume and is a really good team I personally care as much for polls as for recruiting rankings. But, being ranked high and then "falling" seems to have a far greater effect on post season determinations. And, of course fan expectations... even though most on here were well aware of the potential shortcomings of this team hoping pitchers would jump to the forefront as in past seasons. Furd wasn't 56-6... but, on paper had a much better team returning. And, I'd much rather they or any other team carry the #1 tag or even top 10 tag until it counts. To me, top 10-15 and climbing as the season goes "looks and feels" better (to post season hosting), especially since baseball has a tournament and #1 is actually determined on the field.

But, I do see us weekly... and this current team, the one I'm sitting here watching, won't get thru a regional let alone be ranked #1.
