I think Rueck is grossly underpaid (pay the man, for phuck sakes) but he’s going to do his best whatever his pay. Upgrade recruiting dollars and assistant pay is a start. We all love sweet ol’ Gill, but kids don’t. She needs some serious modernization. Duh How is Rueck underpaid? If we paid him more, would that lead to more wins? If so, how so? Maybe its more of keeping the coaching staff together? If Rueck is underpaid, just how much more are the assistants underpaid compared to their conference peers?

A few years ago Oregon volleyball spiked (no pun intended) in the rankings and recruiting and made it to the national championship game where I think they lost to Texas. They've fallen off a little but this is the new normal in uo sports and for OSU. Outside of OSU selling its soul it's a tide the Beavers will just have to keep working hard to stem.

I SAID Scott would do his best no matter his pay, but Graves just won his first PAC 12 Championship....first....Rueck has won three (3), and yet the schmuck coach makes more. I’m sure Campbell left for the $$$$. Don’t tell me THAT didn’t pay off for them.

Hey Fever.....take a break. You don’t have to be a prick every day of your life. That’s good advice

Hey Fever.....take a break. You don’t have to be a prick every day of your life. That’s good advice Couple of serious questions. What exactly do you think should be done to modernize Gill. How much would it cost and where would the money come from? Should we start a Gill modernization fund and put you down as the first significant contributor? How much more should coach R be paid and where would that money come from? Seriously, where would you get the extra money? I'm going to guess that even though WBB draws better than anyone in the PAC, they still don't turn a profit. ,

The schmucks are going to be a formidable foe for the foreseeable future. Facilities...good coach....good recruiter (how’d Campbell get there again??). They have a lot of advantages. To dismiss that is to be ignorant. It won’t address what WE need to do. I've been called worse.

We won three championships, probably out drew every other PAC 12 program......I could look that up, I guess....... and yet, the team down the road out-recruited us. Why? Facilities. Same reason the schmucks out recruit us in every sport but baseball. Better facilities. Where does the money EVER come from? Upgrading Gill would pay dividends for the men’s program too. Volleyball as well. I don’t know if we’re ever going to consistently average nine thousand fans in Gill again. Larger isn’t necessary. Newer, fresher, brighter, more modern. The center scoreboard is a great upgrade. JUST WINNING apparently isn’t enough in Corvallis. We’d better invest in tangible things if we’re going to attract the necessary talent. No one said it would be easy. I’ll admit that I hate the fact that the schmucks are champs. They bought their way to it. How’d they attract the talent they’ve assembled?

I didn’t think I had to qualify it. Perhaps, “.......to dismiss the fact.....is ignorant.” Not as personal that way. Wasn’t meant to be.

AN ALL NEW ARENA IS NEEDED! No doubt in my mind that the facilities are what is holding back the OSU's men's and women's basketball programs (and probably other sports too). I don't think modernizing Gill is the solution...what would they do???.....gut the place and just leave the old framework/shell? I don't think so. Besides, its footprint is too small too begin with. OSU needs a whole new, modern arena built somewhere nearby...maybe use the open space west of 30th and north of Oak Creek...west of the vet clinic? 10-12,000 seat capacity. Of course getting $200-275 million for an all new arena is the big trick...reality suggests it's probably a pipe dream in our life time. Might even be more since supporting infrastructure, parking, etc. must be added too. (Mathew Knight Area was $227 million, $247 million in 2017 dollars) Keep Gill for volleyball and wrestling....gymnastics could move to the new arena A number of Universities that have built new arenas have kept their older ones for use by lower profile sports.

I have to agree, a completely new OSU basketball complex is not happening anytime soon.
What I would like to see, after the West side of Reser is completed, is a complete interior remodeling of Gill, similar to what was done at Hec Ed in Seattle and Haas Pavillion in Berkley. I'm thinking in the $50 to $60 million dollar range. A new hall of fame, trophy display, lounge to be added to the front entrance, New upgraded seating thru out, with 2 new end zone seating areas to utilize now wasted space, some escalators installed, along with new restrooms and concession areas. I would also light the exterior of Gill to enhance its architectual beauty. Did I miss anything?
These enhancements, along with the new lighting and center hung video/scoreboard on the way, would go a long ways towards bringing Gill up to Pac-12 standards.
