really bad idea. weather for spring baseball is so unpredictable. often the games will start in shirtsleeve conditions and by the 9th inning you are dressed like a December football game. I normally take warm coat and pants, rain gear, seat cushions, score book, gloves and towels to dry off the seats. under the new policy , it sounds like you can stop at the gate and put on all the clothes you want to bring in then go in and take some of it off till you need it. either way when you get inside there will be no way to keep your stuff dry as often there is standing water in the bleachers. poor decision made by someone with no understanding or concern for the fan experience. typical bureaucracy, find a solution than go look for a problem.

I did not see footballs on the approved item list. Does that mean no more playing on the field after the games?

Feel bad for families, we used to bring a backpack full of potentially needed items for game day, since you never know what your kid is going to need...and maybe a candy bar to hold us over. So essentially a woman can't bring a purse to an OSU athletic event anymore. The world just becomes more limiting every day. Bah humbug. Another reason to watch on the big screen at home for the casual fan. This is going to catch a lot of people by surprise at Reser.

This policy is almost certainly what OSU’s insurance carrier directed them to enforce in order to reduce coverage premiums.
Inconvenience to fans and diminishment of the fan experience does not factor in to these decisions.

OSU and probably the Pac-12 finally caught up to the rest of the leagues. Minnesota and Colorado State both had these requirements on trips to those schools over the past couple of years..

I want the genius who approved this to come to all March baseball games, bring there young children, and sit through the entirety of each game within the restrictions they have placed on the people who are paying the bills. Policy would likely be modified by middle of the month. This is Oregon, spring baseball means pack three layers of clothing and a couple of blankets....to every game.

You can still bring blankets, etc., and will be able to carry them in even if they don't fit in the bag.

Somehow every other school that has this requirement (and it is most of them) has had this restriction in force for a couple of years. Somehow the fans have survived and complied. Have a feeling OSU fans will do the same.

Have a feeling OSU fans will do the same. I attended the road baseball games last year at UCLA, Stanford, Washington and Oregon. None had such a policy. At some point in each series, I needed every shred of insulation from the weather I had in the bag, and it was much larger than a gallon. |

From the Policy: Glad to know women are still allowed to bring in tampons! Soak em in vodka, boys! Also it looks like the previous policy that allowed you to bring in outside food as long as it was in it original sealed packaging is no more... Gotta buy the $8 (or is it $10 now) box of popcorn I guess... All of this is rendered moot with the right jacket of course....  |

I had to take my purse back out to the car when we attended a baseball game at Arizona (that was two years ago). They had the clear bag policy in place way back then. I think this is becoming more and more common for safety’s sake. I’m okay with it. It just caught me by surprise two years ago...
