Stacy turned the momentum of that game with his d. Crisp was looking to start asserting himself, with some success. If he had caught fire that game would have gotten out of hand. Stacy shut it off. 11 points and 7 assists for Crisp is a key stat in that game. I agree Stacy is a liability on offense. He never seems comfortable with the speed of the game on that end of the floor, which is perplexing given his speed and quickness in the other. Regardless, Stacy and coach deserve credit for that pivotal moment of the game. I really believe that's a player development issue. I was coaching a high school spring league and had this kid who could hit shots in practice but had no confidence in games; he'd be the first to tell you. I told him he owed me two 3's a game to take the pressure off and he started hitting 'em. Now, I learned how that can backfire cuz he started chucking up more and wasn't as interested in going into the key. Haaaaaa. I'm not saying that's what should have happened last night but definitely in the non conference schedule. I would bet some of the guys have some talent, it's just getting it out of them.

He started to be afraid to shoot it but because he worried his misses were hurting the team. The pistons were close to waiving him until the GM and coach too him aside and told him the team wasn't paying him for made shots, they were paying him for attempts. Missing shots is everyone's responsibility and he needed to step up and shoulder his load of misses too.
Anyway that worked for Joe Dumars.

Anyway that worked for Joe Dumars. Agree with both of you. If it were me (& please note, I currently coach at the 10/11yo level at the Y, so take it what it’s worth), in preseason I would have been running JMc, RS, & possibly KM exclusively at pg to duke it out for the starting job. RS would likely have emerged as the starter, with a bunch more experience and some very specific things to coach him on. As it stands right now, there is just a bunch of random stuff to deal with, I think, because of nerves and/or the pace of the game.

Yes, the lack of depth on the team is a serious issue. It won't get better any time soon with the new recruiting class...Reichle needs to get better and quick. Stacy played important minutes down the stretch. Hollins starting gives more flexibility with Berger off the bench. Regarding Hollins, I think his propensity to foul has limited his playing time as much as anything. In three games he has fouled out with 12, 12 and 14 minutes.

It takes PT to hey in the rhythm of a game... on both ends. Without it players "rush" to get things done. Hollins basically got no time the 1st 15-18 games. You learn as much on the court in games than in practice. He's just now getting in to the swing... a great sign.

Kone still has a ways to go which is too bad because there’s minutes available at the power forward spot.

Kind of amazing that UW played a two overtime game and only used 7 players... is that right? Talk about no help off the bench! At least our bench ate some minutes and got the guys some rest, maybe tired legs from UW is what let us make the 13 pt comeback to begin with!

You think Berger starts ever again? HOLLINS!! I'd actually like to see Hollins still come off the bench. I think his offense and rebounding would be a good lift, and I like the way Berger plays with the starters. The key though for me is that both should be getting 20 minutes a game to help get Tres and Stevie's minutes down so they're fresher down the stretch. Basically for the past 10 games or so, Hollins and Berger have played 28-32 minutes combined each game. Need to get those minutes up a little higher -- at least to 35 minutes combined.

You know what you are going to get with Berger every time. Effort. And it doesnt depend if his shot is falling or what he ate for lunch. That's the makings of a starter.
