From my perspective, the Cal game may be the most important game of the year thus far for the Beavers.
In general it appears that the OSU offense is not quite strong enough nor is their defense quite good enough to get them into the NCAA tournament this year unless there is an improvement in the next few weeks.
Today's game will be an excellent opportunity for the Beavers to show they still have the defensive intensity and technique that has been their trademark over the Scott Rueck years.
Go Beavers!

OSU will be in the NCAA tournament. Are you confusing OSU WBB with OSU MBB?

skyrider - Not sure what you are getting at when you say the Beavs are not quite strong enough to make the NCAA tourney this year. It would take a galactic collapse for the Beavs not to make the tourney this year. Likely won't host, but they'll get in....
Today's game against Cal will be another tough one. Coach will want to see a quick return to form after a disappointing show against Stanford... Board game obviously has to improve significantly, as does perimeter shooting....Rueck's teams are known for resilience so today will be a good test of it....
I'm expecting Tudor and Pivec to both score from the outside today - -if they don't the whiskey is out of the bottle and the Beaver season just got a lot longer....
Beavs by 9....... GO BEAVS

No I am not confusing the men and women's teams, but I am concerned that the "RPI" number for the Beavers is not very high and that they have a number of games left which they could lose.
I am however glad that you feel differently about their chances, since I think you always have knowledgeable and insightful observations about the women's team.
On another note, how in the heck do we the Beavers get more shot attempts for Kat Tudor?
Thanks!

You said: "it appears that the OSU offense is not quite strong enough nor is their defense quite good enough to get them into the NCAA tournament this year unless there is an improvement in the next few weeks" OSU stands at 16-6 overall and 7-4 in conference after having played the hardest half of their schedule. While I expect them to improve, just playing at their current level will easily assure them of an NCAA bid.

Okay but don't we still have to play both USC and UCLA both of who we lost to earlier? Also WSU is really tough at home particularly if they have their best player not injured.
Also do you agree that we need to be playing better to have much chance to win games in the tournament even if we do get in?
Go Beavers!
Note-I would really like to see Kalmer get more playing time. She alone seems to have the quickness and offensive skills to break down pressure defenses and beat her defender into the key area and thus free up other OSU players for open shots.

Nice to see Janessa getting some PT. I think she is a talent and is solid on D.

Too bad no one besides Katie can shoot a lick... we'd be up 20.

that! (big halftime lead) was about defense and position rebounding. Fun to watch this team execute on D. Offense is little shaky at times. PLUS Tree wins big in EUGENE !!!!!

First... much better overall team effort. Today the lineup minus Pivec is much more effective. Katie's start allowed everything else to get going.
Second... Cal is not near as good as Furd. Not sure why they are ranked?
Third... Cal will have a new coach... as soon as next year... unfortunately! Players seem to tune her out on bench. But, I've never thought she's utilized all the talent she's been able to recruit.

Cal coach Gottlieb is not happy.
Body language in that coming out of the half interview was that of an exasperated, pissed off HC.
