Awesome. I still remember his freshman year, at the SF Bowl, we had nothing left and he pretty much ran a series of fly sweeps from one end of the field to the other to secure the victory. At the end of the game, he was so pooped he couldn't hardly get up off the turf. Been my favorite ever since.

How will this effect recruiting? Depends on whether you're recruiting players or ticket buyers. It could do both. I like the move.

If JR is there to keep the players' heads screwed on right, we got the right man for the job. Wish we had SJ around in some position too.

What does the Director of Player Development do? It's basically a mentorship type of position - a little bit life coach, a little bit Jiminy Cricket, a little bit administrative staff, but the main focus is just to connect with the student-athlete and provide character-building sessions and guidance. It's a non-coaching position, but a lot of times guys are doing this as kind of the stepping stone between GA and assistant coach. The obvious focus of the position is to try and establish a culture that reduces off-field run-ins. a little bit Jiminy Cricket. I like that but I think we're going to need a bigger cricket to stop off the field run-ins. Every program has them but they usually involve a civilian getting in the way of a very buffed out 19 year old.

The buffed out 19 year olds need to learn that if trouble is brewing they can be 100 feet away from it in 4 seconds.

I do not wish to trigger anyone.

Also, don't forget he fell on a fumble in the end zone for the winning touchdown.

Add Alexis Serna there and you have four all-time greats who weren't 5-10.

It's sure nice to see all the ex beaver greats coming back and bringing excitement for the program. I love having J Rodgers in the program as well

This is a hugely important step in fixing our culture. Get all the heros back here, get them talking to our players, get our players heads back in the game. Give them role models and expectations. These guys coming back, these on the field legends and major figures for Oregon state help hit the huge reset button, and reset the expectations of Oregon State. They will put a new feeling in the air at Valley. Help wash the stink of GA away.
